Parakeet chirping in my new E53 AMG Cabriolet
#76
The whole front diff was replaced due to internal gears being shredded. The noises got loud enough after a pop and it became a clattering of sorts.

Ouch that sounds so bad, were they able to figure out why the gears ended up that way? I am glad they got it fixed for you though but still curious what happened and how it happened so you can prevent it from happening again.

Hi All. I had new rear discs and brake pads installed and the car drove perfectly - for a day. The chirps/squeal returned. I have been told to wait for factory modified brake pads. It seems like several other owners have the same problem.
so until then …..

Not the modified brake pads
Hi All. I thought I would give an update. The factory modified brake pads were installed last week, and I took the car out for a spin. The mouse and parakeet squeaks remain!
I did some more research and got some valuable comments on my YouTube videos. A few owners pointed out they have had squeak problems with the performance exhaust gas flaps squeaking. Not the brake pads. So I’m asking my local MB dealer to look into this now.

Very helpful to know. I hope others can avoid the one year 15+ trips to MB service wild goose chase. The car is otherwise amazing. Let’s see if this solves it!

Drove the car with the PE off and the squeaks still came. Therefore unlikely exhaust gas flap - back to square one. Must be how the rotors touch the brake pads turning. Modified brake pads didn’t help.

Hi, quick update for those interested. The rear calipers were recently changed by MB service and it helped some. However there are still squeaks at certain pitch and curvy turns. I would say 50 percent better. I have several PMs from owners with similar issues. Thus far this has been the most helpful adjustment.

Pretty sure this is what he means, I've always heard it called a carrier, but it seems MB calls is a caliper mount. Example for E63: https://www.mbdirectparts.com/oem-pa...ort-0004232100

Yes it was the mount. What a total relief - one year of annoying bird chirps/squeals and too many unresolved service visits.
Like an unreachable itch in the middle of your back! They kept telling me it was the brake pads!

Edit: Curious though... How did it produce the sound though? Did they figure out why it produces this unique sound?

Apparently, the mount hindered full retraction of calipers and on certain turns and pitch there would be some friction causing the annoying bird chirps and squeals. I know others have similar chirps coming from their cars. It took over 12 months and numerous MB service visits to zero in on this day one new car issue.

My apologies if I didn't understand you correctly, you said it is making the same noise as OP but not the same noise and problem, again my apologies that I wasn't able to understand. If you don't mind could you please post a video and/or explain in a different way so we can help you out?
