Congrats on pulling the Trigger on your 2023 AMG Wagon so quickly and glad the Wife was onboard.

I personally like the wheels that came on the car. If you get a new set would make OE dedicated for Winter.

Keep posting pics of your 2023 and give us feedback on your likes/dislikes. Will celebrate your new acquisition by washing my dirty 2021 with 9100 miles on odometer. Just scheduled my second Service A at Duluth Georgia Dealership next month. Gotta drive it 1500-miles from NM with an over night stop in Cedar Hill Texas. Then will head to Reston Virginia, West Harrison NY and Long Island. On way back will visit my cool Aunt with the Miata on Chincoteague Island after a quick stop in Dover Delaware.

Yes please as I doubt the sentence "I'm cancelling my order - can I still buy those used wheels?" will go over as well as I hope.

Congratulations I.T. Guy!!! I've been following your journey here and even I feel a sense of relief, so I can imagine how you feel!

You ended up with not only a beautiful car, but an obviously rarely-optioned one as well. Enjoy dude!

This is my build. I'm not sure why it was spec'd this way...not in love with the rims. I'd prefer the twin-5 bi-colour. Thoughts?

I agree those rims are a tad too silver/grey for that car but that's being ultra critical. It's still beautiful! I wouldn't kick it out of bed for having grey wheels!

It's all subjective, what do YOU like? I ended up having the dealer order my my black twin-spokes (they got close enough to expoparts) all the while they said "you are killing us, you already have the better wheels, WHY do you want these?"
To each their own...

I trust that you ordered extras. Those wheels are cast and not forged.

I think I may do the same. I do love the cross-spoke. How do you navigate the Expoparts website to get the price?

just fill out the quote request form and if you have the parts #, it would be faster for them to quote you

I'm on the fence. Normally I do order 5, keeping a spare. Here's my delay:

I'm actually considering the weird Rim and tire insurance they have. It apparently covers EVERYTHING even if I buy $20k aftermarket rims they will replace those too if I get rash, dents, whatever. I'm still wrapping my head around how they will deny and rip me off if I buy that insurance. It include paintless dent removal and 2 windshield replacements too.
I've never been "tricked" into something like this before, but, it seems like a great deal, it will cover any rim any mfg that I put on my car. I just need pics to submit a claim.

Anyone ever heard of that before?! I feel like a sucker just contemplating it. LOL

email them a VIN that is the only way they roll
I can forward you the quote they sent me pm me an email address
Keep in mind their price did not include TPMS sensors or anything, just bare rims. The dealer price included everything and warm and fuzzies if the wrong rims show up they'll make it right. Exoparts you pay on order, it's final sale, if they come and you are not happy, well, enjoy your paperweights

Same here, I've always refused these things, however this time I decided to give it a try since it was only $2K for 72/mo. Same coverage as you described. Mine is the truBundle Ultimate from truWarranty.

In the past, I've never had great experiences with warranties, but I guess I'll see how it works out when and if I need it.

Hmm I turned that down. Should I not have done that? Is it too late I guess? I have the PDFs explaining it all if anyone wants them.

Here in Canada it seems to be called First Class Protection Plan, and there's different packages: First Class Appearance Package, First Class Appearance & Key Replacement, First Class Total Care, First Class Tire and Rim Protection, and there's more like one for windshields etc.

Desirable Spec

With CCBs more desirable to have forged wheels to keep unsprung weight at its minimum to maximum performance. Reason why suggested that you keep OE wheels in case you later sell your 2023 to an Enthusiast. If you ditch run flat tires you will have four spares if you order those cast wheels.

When I travel to Albuquerque or next month to East Coast carry a spare, real jack, breaker bar, torque wrench, and even a Gränsfors Bruks Small Forest Axe on that Fury Road...lol

Should read the tires & rim protection plan carefully. Rashed / curbed rims will be resurfaced. Only cracked rims will be replaced. Not so sure about the plan covering aftermarket rims ??

Definitely excellent advice. On mine, aftermarket wheels are covered BUT they must be made of OEM or better material properties and be the same OEM size specifications, so if you want to go bigger, you're SOL for warranty coverage on the wheels and tires.

A spare for which wheel? There’s no room for a real wheel unless it's a collapsible. I have a complete Mercedes tool kit under the wagon floor, but I really can't imagine jacking up the car on the side of the road, taking the wheel off, and getting the tire replaced ( hard enough to buy the correct tires as it is). BTW, I've had several cracked cast wheels on my previous Mercedes cars over the years. In one instance, the wheel crack caused the tire to lose pressure and to fail as well.

It could have been today! But I was lazy and let the dealer flat bed it for slightly over-priced PPF, tints, etc.
It will be all done by Monday/Tuesday.

Unfortunate timing as https://mbtruenorth.com/ season opener is at the Burlington Dealer this Sunday!! I'll be there with my W212 around noon-1pm if anyone wants to meet up. Plate: GRCERIES. I just learned about the club, not a member, just going to check it out for the first time. Anyone else going?

Agree

The sad part is our cars are so heavy and have so much power even though my Iron->CCB upgrade on my W212 saved tons of weight rotating mass it did nothing for my 60', 1/4 mile, 60-130 etc. - my butt-o-meter love the better pedal feel and no shimmy even at high speeds and the steering I *think* is better, along with road feel, but it might all be in my head too. Our cars are just big fat pigs, the turbos make up for it all!! On a lighter less HP car yes the rotating mass is a big deal. On the E63 after my experience chasing a .01 in the 1/4 I found out the turbos don't really care. It's why I can run the heavier cast wheels without any guilt - been there done that.

I will weigh all wheels when they come in out of curiosity. I really need to start a thread...

Even in my 60s when get a blowout go into NASCAR Pit Crew mode. Lots of dangerous debris on these rural roads that make my flats unrepairable. Last Decade traveled Alone across the vast Southwestern Wasteland in my cars plus recent one way treks in 2019 Buick, 2020 CRV Hybrid and most recently Son's 2021 KIA Soul. Even have 2 takeoff Spares for the CRV in GA. When 2012 Honda CRZ got a blowout West of Pecos had to drive nearly 200-miles on a donut tire since rural Local Tire Shop Inventory cater to Oilfield Big Rig Diesels and pickup trucks until you get back to civilization. When I reach final destination back in the World, unload all my emergency provisions behind the two front seats. Front Take-Off OE Cast wheel should fit rear axle in an emergency until I get a replacement DWS06+ tire for my forged wheel on East Coast, DFW, or back at NM Residence. Normally travel 4-5 hours to Hobbs where still have a bunk with old Oilfield roommates and there is a Discount Tire in Town. After Catfish Friday Dinner head to DFW area early the next morning across the Forbidden Zone. DFW to ATL is a quick 12-hour sprint to GA Residence on Sunday when most Tire Shops are closed. Wife and Kids have been flying to NM last Decade and most recently this past Christmas Holidays.

20 inch forged should come in around 28-29 lbs

20 inch cast should be around 33-34 lbs
