^^^Thank you. One of my finer specs. Any of you who know me know I have a thing for non-metallic blues. Midnight is one of the greatest. Must be seen in person and in various lights to be appreciated. Worth the $10k or whatever. These crappy pics don't do it justice. This is an amazing car.
Long story, Ian. The car is literally too nice for me to daily plus I've changed over the last couple years as it relates to money and cars. With two kids about to get their licenses that means two cars plus insurance. Then $500-750k in college. And when you can earn 5.5% in cash, having a garage full of showpieces becomes harder to justify.
Then there's the Tesla thing. I don't drive much and work from home now seems permanent. My driving consists of bringing kids to school/sports and errands. All around town. An electric car simply handles this better (regen braking is rather life changing) at a fraction of the cost and affords me the luxury of not stressing out when I park at Costco or when kids get in the car dirty from sports. I'm too OCD when it comes to cars.
Final straw was when I got the insurance bill for this car last week. Inflation is insane. $5k.
However, last night I went for a short drive in the wagon and started reconsidering. Maybe I sell the Porsche instead and simplify my life. Doubtful because when I want to go on a pleasure drive, I'm taking the GT3. IDK man. I'm just grateful to experience such amazing automobiles, and our wagons do not disappoint.

$5K Insurance bill? Wow! The insurance on my wagon (just paid the bill) is $857 (6 mos) with all the bells and whistles. I had forgotten how much things are in CT.

I am in NYC and my insurance on wagon also went from 3.3 to 5.0 this year
2021 E63 went from $2200 to $2800.
2018 GLC43 went from $1300 to $2300. No idea why so expensive for this car.
Clean record.
Home insurance going up $1000 per year from $3000 to $4000 to $5000 now for past three years.
you should shop around every time they go up, if you don’t you’re losing out. My friend is an insurance broker and he works with 10 different companies. Every time my rate goes up, I have him do a spot check and see if he can find a better rate and 9/10 times he does.
Many insurance companies have pulled out of CA for various reasons, or they're no longer writing new policies which forces customers to keep whatever they have because there's no other choice.
my 2023 sedan with 500 deductible is $63 a month in Idaho. God bless the red states
$63/month is cheap! Pay about double that in New Mexico...$725 for 6-months. Keep home in Southwest for cheap Registration for 5-vehicles. Son's 2021 Kia is insured in Georgia...keeps my rates down in NM. Wife pays for that expense. Proximity to Atlanta jacks up her Premium. Used to pay for 6-vehicles until Daughter moved to Maryland two years ago after graduation and now lives in Virginia. Waiting to kick off Son from our payroll after his 2026 graduation!

This vehicle is a real unicorn!! I'm surprised that it hasn't been grabbed up already. The Midnight Blue paint is truly unique. Definitely sets it apart from all of the Grey Magno paint jobs!
I can't believe this hasn't sold yet. Wider net and this would be gone by now. I have six people who say they want it but nobody's given me a deposit.
At MSRP this represents a tremendous value.

The car is beautiful, no doubt. But finding a cash offer on 160k car isn’t going to be quick. I don’t see someone financing at 8%, which seems to be going up every month.

I do find your financial assumption hard to believe. This forum is populated with E63S wagon owners, some of whom bought either the US or Canadian FE or non-FE vehicles in 2023. It's not finance that is limiting this potential purchase. It's more deciding to purchase a unique copy. There have been other wagons that have custom paint jobs (I recall an Olive Green example that was recently built that I found hideous on a large wagon), but this blue color really acents the lines. It's almost a museum piece, but that’s my opinion. I already have a Graphite Grey E63S wagon with identical specs and more.
I agree with both of you. On one hand, it's a big number and a lot of people won't pay $10,500 for a color. And I get it. At first blush, it's a total waste. However, after ordering many special paints over the years, I've never regretted it. It's somehow worth it if you love the color. After all, you see it every day and night in all sorts of lights. It's definitely a leap. One thing from experience. I always stick to classic colors special to the particular brand. Further, I much prefer dynamic colors, such as this Midnight Blue. You get more bang for your buck when the color changes depending upon the lighting conditions. I tend to get bored with colors that don't look different from time to time.
On the other hand, I suspect most wagon buyers considering this are paying cash. Just an educated guess.
