This is why open discussion, and searchable archives are so important.

More and more people are realizing that the social media apps they’ve become addicted to have lousy search and archive functionality.

Forums will have a resurgence of activity.

@PeterUbers W212 Sticky thread helped me when researching that generation. A similar compendium of resources and DIY would be helpful for W213.

If users dislike the way a forum is being moderated, I’ll make a new forum. @I.T. Guy hit me up. ten dollar burrito at gmail.
I hope you are right about resurgence of forums. I wholeheartedly agree with the consolidation of easily searchable content and organized posting history.

As for a new forum -eek-!! I started this thread to get more people to THIS forum. I like it here.

Every forum will have it's challenges for sure, but I don't see many issues here with Personal Insults, Politics and Religion, Flame Wars, etc. _because_ it's moderated. I'm perfectly ok if those things keep getting sanitized by mods. If I wanted an "anything goes" place to fight the internet fight I would go somewhere else. That's just not my thing.

Ignore is a tool. And if one using said tool can't self regulate and skip over threads started by someone on ignore that they are not interested in reading, maybe read the TOS section on Conduct and take whatever personal action necessary. There's also nifty sections on Moderation, Interaction With Others, etc.

Humans have proven over and over again that we can't "just get along" so some kind of rules and enforcement need to exist.
And
No one is perfect.

I hope everyone sticks around and no one runs off. That would be a shame.

I feel like there’s a general decline in forums. To be honest I was surprised to see such a strong forum following in the MB community. I was a Subaru enthusiast until it went to poop after Toyota bought em out. NASIOC and IWSTI forums were full of active members back in the early 2000’s, but have died or since been taken over by internet tough guys and keyboarding trolls. It’s just sad to see, but I subscribe to threads and try to stay checking in.

I am a bit surprised that this thread has blown up. Obviously there was a lot of pent up resentment that boiled over. You can’t keep that bottled up forever. It eventually erupts somewhere.

Had a 2002 WRX manual with awesome Recaro seats...was able to drive that bug-eye 19-hours straight without any body fatigue. Test drove the STI that I thought was a time-machine but later bought 4 GM-Holden V8s because of GMS Employee Pricing. Still participate on Chevy SS Forums since had a 2017 A6 and still own a 2015 M6 SS Sedan that Albert Biermann fashioned after his iconic BMW E39 M5. My 2021 AMG Wagon with its TTV8 was more of a Stargate with its brutal acceleration thru time and space that had excellent road manners on Treks thru the Mountain and Canyon Portals of the Southwest. Last Subaru was a leased 2013 XV Crosstrek 5-stick that I used as company car for off-road duty at Missile Range. Refueled it every 3-weeks since it had great mpg. All it needed was the WRX's Boxer Turbo-4 powerplant to be Great but Subaru by that time was more focused on company profits over performance. The CVT was the Downfall of all Automotive Bliss after its introduction worldwide...

Soft threat number one, lol Typical and expected.

Moderated forums don’t mean we have to respect moderators opinions, it means we must follow forum rules…. Thanks for stopping by and remember to respect our opinions on your way out.

It’s as if the meaning of the thread is missed. Lots of reasons here, including these interactions.

Since that quoted persons post did not add to the thread and was clearly only made to exert the power of a moderator once again, can it please be deleted by the mods that act with more respect. Thanks, we all clearly know it’s a moderated forum, are not idiots like we are treated and it’s a part of the discussion further reinforced by a bad actor.

I wonder what else I’ll be told about his forum today. Is it called mbworld, I’m not sure?🧐 (that’s a joke for the people that need their toilet paper applied for them)

Just my opinion, I think moderators should moderate, not opinionate. If they want to post about their car, or projects, or chime in to answer questions about maintenance, repair, parts, programming, all well and good. I just think they should refrain from flexing any authority they have, backed with the seal of approval of their position.

The thing is that a typical moderator/admin on an online forum, facebook group, twitch, youtube, reddit etc normally do not have any real power or influence in real life and this is the only place they can flex and act important and rule the "peasants" like the regular forum folk. They're nothing more than glorified hall pass monitors. I'm not saying all fall in this bucket but very many do.

I think part of the problem is the concepts of "public" and "private" have become as fooked up as "left", "right" and "Semite". People now come to public boards to have what used to be private chats then get upset when someone they don't know/like interjects. Seems like that's what usually attracts a moderator's attention anyways.

I blame the libtards on fake TV news

Not a threat, just a reminder that, as you stated, forum rules are observed
Btw, I show up because not only because I manage this forum with others but because I have had a W213 E63s Edition1 a few years ago and love when others share their experiences about theirs...

A pic of our old ride.

I tried to order an Edition 1 at the LA auto show when they introduced the car. Weren't taking orders at that time.

Once I decided to go the route of European delivery the ED1 was off the table and I ended up fully optioning my car. This had the unexpected added benefit of taking delivery after the refresh so I got the upgraded infotainment system and more LED lighting options, etc.

Love the Selenite Grey Magno, but really wanted the Black Magno of the ED1. Pictures don't do it justice and seeing in person in the right light really brings out the extra color bits that sparkle in the light.

We were one of the first to get an ED1 in 2017, but the Comand sucked big time. Slower than molasses and missing options. Ours was an April build and anything before August had old firmware. Also missed the Alcantara headliner but the Night Black Magno is epic. Blue sparkles in the sun on magno paint is truly unique...

Hey guys,
I haven`t been around for too long or anything, but honestly you should really put all those negative factors aside and go forth. There will always be scammers, trolls and overly narcissistic personas everywhere.

I had zero contribution here, but been reading thru all your threads from point one(IT GUY has some great logging) and remember most of your advises, pitfalls and so on. This truly helped me a lot. I have a w213 Ed. 1 as well. 2 years ago I could not resist and added a 2022 e63s wagon. Rolling both with the happiest face you can possibly imagine, every time.

Long story short, I do appreciate you all and honestly, a Forum is a place for enthusiasts and hobbyists to share and gain, rest is irrelevant.

Very interesting points. Just from what I’ve seen I jump between W204/211/213 forums just to see what’s going on. The Facebook groups crowd are mostly newcomers to AMG and you see very repetitive questions about vehicles. Also a good majority of them are moderated by a business as well that doesn’t allow for any talk of fixes that’s not sold by the business moderating the forums.

I was on vwvortex, fortitude, audizine, e46fanatics and a few others prior and there appears to be some corrupt strategies and censoring in the AMG world forums especially.

Maybe it’s representative of the types of owners that eventually make their way into the platform, quick money, divide and conquer.
