Sounds like a really boring drive. I try to keep the "green" out of the those personally.

You get an RMS leak... at least it's rumoured that babying the car can cause the oil separators to not work, causing a pressure buildup and the leak. I don't actually understand the internal layout/dynamic exactly but I have resolved to eliminate any possibility of causing a leak due to *****footing.

Due to our draconian road laws we have to endure Double Demerit Points during Xmas and New Year's... basically most major road rule breaches incurre twice the amount of points for each breach compared to normal times of the year, so basically minor speeding and no seatbelt sees your licence toast for 3-6months!!!....so doing the Eco thing was the only thing keeping me sane on a 4hr each way drive to see family for Xmas.

Honestly I'd find it hard to believe that driving normally and not like you're in a Police chase could be deemed dangerous to any engine accept maybe a F1 car.

For all of California's faults (all of which are owed to the craven State government), they somehow haven't screwed up the car/road thing. Maybe the "third rail" of California politics, since California invented car culture.

Our Highway Patrol is really good... We have reckless speeding laws, but if you're polite and pull over right away, I've always had my tickets written a the max of "regular fine" speed. Here, you pay a hefty fine and then go to online class to wipe the points away. 8 or 16 hr, depending on whether you had a ticket in the last 3 (?) years. The classes are no joke, so you have to work for all of the 8 or 16 hr, but it's the price of speed. Plus, we have three racetracks within a couple hr drive.

Yes I've been to LA quite a few times and always been impressed with how the CHPs Actually help stranded drivers and the zig zagging to slow down drivers so a car can safely renter the highway had us jaw dropping as our local HP are even despised by other depts in the state Police force because they're just shameless revenue raising àssholes.

The Double Points periods also raise double the revenue and do bugger all at lowering the road toll which really písses everyone off

@Aussie_E350_Wag I got a good laugh imagining an Aussie accent spitting out your words with the "Contempt" dial turned up to 10.

I had the good pleasure of doing motorcycle duty for the annual Amgen Tour of California pro cycling races, so worked with 10 California Highway Patrol cars. So professional, strictly by the book, but human and often hilarious given the incongruity of interacting with these guys as co-workers. Many many stories, but the race was going through Monterey. I was Moto 1 (out front of the peloton). Curvy oceanside city street and the crowds were pushing onto the course. I gently swerved right to the edge of the crowd and they all stepped back onto the curb. Voice came over the radio, "Good sweep. Good sweep."
