Anyting that is a little "better" then a (real) AMG, might as well skip and stretch to an exotic for the money stuff starts costing.

I recently performed major service on my 2019 Mercedes-AMG GT 63 S with the M177 engine, which included replacing the following components:
- ✅ Rear Main Seal (RMS) – upgraded to the latest version
- ✅ PCV / Oil Separator
- ✅ Water Pump
- ✅ Thermostat
However, after about 200 km of spirited driving over 3 days, I noticed 3 very small drops of oil coming from the weep hole (the small drainage hole between the engine and transmission bellhousing). No oil was found on the ground — just these few spots inside the housing.
The mechanic told me that this may be residual oil trapped in an area that wasn’t opened during the repair — specifically because the oil pan (lower crankcase) was not removed. He explained that it’s normal to see a few drops like this after driving, as the leftover oil can be pushed out by heat and pressure during normal operation.
❗️My Concerns:
- Is this behavior normal after an RMS replacement when the oil pan wasn’t removed?
- Could it really just be old trapped oil from before the repair?
- Or does this suggest a possible leak or improper sealing?
I’d really appreciate any advice or shared experiences — especially from others who have done RMS work on the M177 engine.
Thank you in advance!

Wondering if I needed to replace thermostat as well. Any signs that it gave out?

but I was really tired that day and wasn’t fully focused.
He did tell me everything looked fine and that I’m welcome to bring the car in anytime for a quick check.
As for the thermostat and other parts, I replaced them purely as a precaution,
after watching a YouTube video where someone explained common M177 issues.
From what I’ve read, just replacing RMS and OVS should be enough to solve the leak issue.
Let me know what your tech says when you bring the car in —
did you see a lot of oil, or just residue?
And were you driving the car aggressively?
Also, what car do you have, what model year, and how many miles?

Just a few questions if you don’t mind:
How many times did you check under the car during those 2,000 miles?
Did they confirm what exactly caused the issue — was it an actual leak or just leftover oil/residue?
Do you have any photos of the area that was leaking — either before or after the repair?
Also, you mentioned there was residue inside the pan —
I’m honestly confused because I don’t fully understand where exactly the oil pan is located, and how it relates to the RMS area 😓
I’m starting to feel depressed about this car… too many unknowns and anxiety after such expensive repairs.
>>>>>> I just sent you a PM. Let me know when you have a chance to check it. Thanks

There’s also a small hole nearby where I noticed a little bit of oil residue again.
Do you think this is normal after an RMS/OVS job?
Or could it be a sign of something more serious?
Is dropping the oil pan and cleaning the residue a simple process?
Or does it require removing the transmission again?
Also, the oil I saw is definitely engine oil, not transmission fluid.
By the way, I drove the car pretty aggressively for around 300 km after the repair.
