You seem to be interpreting everything as the opposite of what I'm saying.
2019 S63 AMG IS COVERED, the E63 and AMG GT need to be a 2020 or newer, that is it.

I got 1.5y of cpo coverage left on a 2019 s63 @ 42k miles, afterwards would definitely want to extend. Just out of curiosity if I wanted to purchase today, what kind of ballpark we talking for 2-3y extension, full coverage, unlimited miles? And what would the cost be if I was at 60k miles?

Vanquish, I would buy it while you can. If the actuary's are noticing this with the E63 and GT cars then it is a matter of time before the pre 2020 S63's get flagged. I would guess that the S63 has not been flagged because of the very limited population of this car and I think they are blending it in with the S560 cars. I am actually kind of surprised that they still cover any of the M17X platform cars because of this and a few other issues that appear to be systemic to this set of motors. I think the Fidelity warrantees also escalate with higher miles but Trenton will take care of you. I have been very happy with my Fidelity warranty, it has been a little bit of a hassle dealing with the claims folks and my dealer but I will take that any day for the peace of mind that I have, knowing I am not driving around in a 5 figure hand grenade with no pin in the safety. I never purchase ELW products but this car has changed my attitude on them. It is also probably the last MB I will ever buy unless it is a classic that I can wrench on myself. I absolutely love the car but it is clearly designed for a very specific lifespan before it becomes mechanically totalled unless you are one of the rare folks that has the cojones to really dig into one of these cars and sniff out and repair the problems they can have. Maybe if I have an overhead lift and this becomes a 3rd car then I might keep it but they are a major PITA to work on unless it is fluids or brakes.

Probably about $5,000 but we do not offer "unlimited mileage coverage", you'd be stopped at 100K miles on the odometer.

Not a fan of porsche tbh. Would consider a gt3 or 911 turbo but at that price level ill pay a bit more and just get a huracan. Nxt car im eyeing is an 812, but need to find a clean, good optioned. If you buy it correctly, you can put specific miles, exit the vehicle, and maybe break even or lose a little.

Anyting that is a little "better" then a (real) AMG, might as well skip and stretch to an exotic for the money stuff starts costing.

100%. This has been an issue for me for a while now. E55, multiple E63s, and now a S63. I've had warranty on all of these cars and it has been night and day. Once the warranty runs out, it becomes painful very quick. The E-class AMG is "somewhat" managable, but the S-Class AMG is on a different level of repairs. After my accident, I have probably about 30k in repairs, ranging from suspension, to rms/ovs, to engine/trans mounts, to pulleys and some small crap. I have swapped all 4 corners with brembo rotors and ceramic pads, all in all $2500, would've been $10,000 at the dealership. Oil I do myself, alongside engine, cabin filters. Tires are a bit*ch, 2k for 4 michellin ps4s. Now imagine if I didn't have warranty and had to pay multiple $10,000 repair bills. Even though you can pay for it, it hurts, and doesn't make sense constantly sinking money in. My car had an accident, which I'm sure you're aware of. No engine damage whatsoever, just sideskirted and some suspension ****, cost insurance 40-50k. Took 6 months of repair. My issues are mostly because my car sat for 6 months. If this car had been driven, I doubt I would've seen these issues so quickly. Morale of the story, you dont know when **** will hit the fan and you should have warranty to back it up. Luckily I still got 1.5y left on CPO warranty and they have been awesome, covered mostly everything. I saw a leak again on my trans when I lifted up the car recently, hopefully it's the transfer case fluid and not a re-occurence of the RMS seal. Will let you guys know in a couple weeks when I get the results. S class is pay to play. The car is not a joke. Even if you have deep pockets, it's still hurts to pay for repairs. On the bright side, so many parts have been swapped on my car that I practically have a brand new car. The car drives amazing now. The next set of issues that will start popping up around 60k are the suspension, air matic, air pocket, struts, etc. Those all 4 corners will cross 5 figs. Hopefully your warranty covers the airmatic system. When I bought the car cpo, I specially asked for this coverage since I had the headache with my previous 6.3 E63. Also man, there is NO other car that is available now that can be considered on the same level as a w222 s63. I want a w222 s65, but next to impossible to find with warranty now. All the new AMG's are **** quality. All plastics. All crap hybrid, electric. I won't buy a hybrid or electric and If I have absolutely no choice, I'll wait until the new s63e is in the 100k region. Besides that, only an Amg GTR is something I would consider. I miss my E55 and 6.3L E63 and now, imo, the 2018-2020 s63 is the last wave of truly magnificent engines, minus the RMS/OVS issues. At the end of the day, you're buying a 150k+ super saloon and the repairs will be on par with that category. Too many people get burned buying an AMG with no warranty. It's just painful when you're not covered. Did you have to pay the difference on the fidelity warranty i.r.t hourly rate, used/new parts, when you did the RMS repair?
Hello everyone,
I recently performed major service on my 2019 Mercedes-AMG GT 63 S with the M177 engine, which included replacing the following components:
However, after about 200 km of spirited driving over 3 days, I noticed 3 very small drops of oil coming from the weep hole (the small drainage hole between the engine and transmission bellhousing). No oil was found on the ground — just these few spots inside the housing.
The mechanic told me that this may be residual oil trapped in an area that wasn’t opened during the repair — specifically because the oil pan (lower crankcase) was not removed. He explained that it’s normal to see a few drops like this after driving, as the leftover oil can be pushed out by heat and pressure during normal operation.
I’d really appreciate any advice or shared experiences — especially from others who have done RMS work on the M177 engine.
Thank you in advance!

❗️My Concerns:
- Is this behavior normal after an RMS replacement when the oil pan wasn’t removed?
- Could it really just be old trapped oil from before the repair?
- Or does this suggest a possible leak or improper sealing?

Wondering if I needed to replace thermostat as well. Any signs that it gave out?

im taking my car this week for the exact same reason. Saw oil and leakage in the pan after repair, (when I put car on a lift, saw it under). No drops on floor though. I've had well over 2000 miles+ on it since car was returned. Wonder if cpo warranty will cover an oily pan. Only rms,ovs was replaced on mine.

but I was really tired that day and wasn’t fully focused.
He did tell me everything looked fine and that I’m welcome to bring the car in anytime for a quick check.
As for the thermostat and other parts, I replaced them purely as a precaution,
after watching a YouTube video where someone explained common M177 issues.
From what I’ve read, just replacing RMS and OVS should be enough to solve the leak issue.
Let me know what your tech says when you bring the car in —
did you see a lot of oil, or just residue?
And were you driving the car aggressively?
Also, what car do you have, what model year, and how many miles?

Honestly, I’m not 100% sure — my tech mentioned something about the oil pan,
but I was really tired that day and wasn’t fully focused.

Just a few questions if you don’t mind:
How many times did you check under the car during those 2,000 miles?
Did they confirm what exactly caused the issue — was it an actual leak or just leftover oil/residue?
Do you have any photos of the area that was leaking — either before or after the repair?
Also, you mentioned there was residue inside the pan —
I’m honestly confused because I don’t fully understand where exactly the oil pan is located, and how it relates to the RMS area 😓
I’m starting to feel depressed about this car… too many unknowns and anxiety after such expensive repairs.
>>>>>> I just sent you a PM. Let me know when you have a chance to check it. Thanks

Checked it once in the 2k miles. Confirmation pending, taking the car in Friday. No photos. Its the transmission oil pan location close to the seal area. It very well can be old trapped oil, dont panic. Yeah spending almost 10k and having issues pop up can be alarming. Just take it back to him, let him drop the pan and clean out the residue and recheck the area where a leak can occur. Attached a video of what he needs to check.
There’s also a small hole nearby where I noticed a little bit of oil residue again.
Do you think this is normal after an RMS/OVS job?
Or could it be a sign of something more serious?

Is dropping the oil pan and cleaning the residue a simple process?
Or does it require removing the transmission again?
Also, the oil I saw is definitely engine oil, not transmission fluid.
By the way, I drove the car pretty aggressively for around 300 km after the repair.
