You Won’t Recognize AMG’s Cars Two Years From Now

I'm glad that AMG will become an even bigger part of MB's overall portfolio, and that ICE engines have a solid future moving forward. In fact I was loving this article in every way...until I saw a picture of a small AMG wagon that I've never seen before. It looks too much like the awkward BMW design language: https://www.carscoops.com/2025/06/me...owertrain-evs/

"Even bigger part of MB's Portfolio" translates directly to further dilution in today's vernacular unfortunately. I for one just hope they get rid of the stupid massive screens.

They're bringing back the V8 so I'm happy. Now if only they can improve their quality, interior fit/finish and materials.

go fast grocery getter wagon
Sounds like amg boss is still stubborn in giving future c63 a v8

i could come back to the next gen e63 (with a v8) and in wagon form. But mb had previously said wagon in any classes will be cancelled. If no wagon, no go for me.

This is the real issue, it seems to me like the big bosses at MB are very confused on what direction they want to go based on the actions of the last five years or so. On top of that it's up to MBUSA to bring the products over here. Because of that I find it hard to take articles like this seriously even if they have quotes from the source. Until the products are here and for sale I don't assume anything anymore.

I'd go for a small AMG wagon. Well as long as it had 600hp minimum. 800hp would be better. Just sayin.

I agree, however it should only any 63 series should be considered an AMG.

However, the OEMs know if you throw AMG/ M/ RS badges on lower series they will sell more.....

Cutting your nose off, despite of your face......seems to be good business.

Just look at the SS line from Chevy, the ST line from Ford, and SRT line from Dodge.......

Sell more and much higher profit margin good for the shareholders and if it means they can use that money they earned from selling these fake amgs to fund V8s, I'm for it.

W212 E63S Wagon - GSL580 - E63 - E350 - C300
Dude, a VTEC sticker was good for 20WHP on any car....I own an E350 that the Stealership installed AMG logos because of a "Dealer Installed" packaged that included interior and exterior stickers, AMG floor mats and somehow AMG head rests (probably from some screwed up warranty parts order).

The problem is depreciation is huge, and that only waters down the real AMG's value.

I'm 100% in line with you guys! They are diluting the brand so much by making every car a special edition now. They're slapping M, R, and AMG badges on anything now...and people are paying for it. It feels the same way as when some idiot "up-badges" his car, o adds on an AMg body kit so the car can look more special than it is...POSERS!! In some ways it mirrors how they all went down market a few years ago, then MB abandoned that philosophy in the US. In sme ways, they're fdoing it all over again.

It looks a lot like my GLA45. 🤣

But I don't drive a yellow Mercedes obviously...

I don't think USA got the A45, only the GLA45 which has higher ground clearance and larger wheels/wheel wells...

If they all are AMGs, with the prestige, panache, class, and top notch performance, then none of them are a car apart from the rest. Then none of them are AMGs.

i almost think BMW did it right with the M sport lines. the gap between say an E300/350/400/450 and an E63 is huge, so there is clearly room for something performance oriented in between and they don't really have any other sport configurations. but i agree generally or at least when i see the A35 AMG that parks on my street

when you look at the 3 series line (at least how it was a few years ago) you went 330i > m340i > M3 which naming/status wise felt right. though the gap between the m340i and the M3 is arguably closer than the E43/53 to the E63

Yes, special edition seems to make them money and make things more exclusive, MB lately indeed started to create a lot of special edition, limited production models 1 of 100 1 of 150 etc. for some reason, just mbworld themselves listed a few on the home page, articles.

I guess you can say the same for like audi with their a3 s3 and rs3.

What I don't like about bmw's way is to put an m badge on the fender and even in the digital cluster display/screen for m sport models so basically bmw's world of amg line.

Ah, when I hear the term yellow, I think of yellow submarine, the nursery rhythm.

Back in the day, An animated full length feature movie was released in Theaters, the title of which was “Yellow Submarine”.
It featured narration, and music by the Beatles.
The style of the movie was a popular technique used to appeal to the psychedelic crowd. Let’s just say, it accompanied a LSD trip very agreeably.

yes that's a little dorky i guess, but there is still a heavy distinction between Mxxxi and Mx

Personally, I like to debadge all my cars anyway, since Mercedes no longer offers badge delete as an option in the US....
