I've run Michelins for years without giving anything else much thought. The ECS02's seem to really kick butt and are cheaper too.

Anyone make the switch? How are they for our cars?

Following , I've heard great things about them on other euro brands. Some claim to prefer them over ps4's..

Here's a good comparison video between the Conti and the aftermarket PS4S. Keep in mind that the PS4S is available as an OE tire for many manufactures such as MO1 for AMG, N for Porsche, * for BMW. Those are quite different from the regular aftermarket PS4S. I run the BMW * PS4S on my C63S Coupe now. It's a marked improvement over the standard aftermarket PS4S I was running before. The PS4S is not available in MO1 for the sizes I need, but I've driven the MO1 PS4S on other AMGs. Ultimately, the OE versions are specifically designed for a certain vehicle and an aftermarket tire may not deliver at the same level.

So with the Conti and the aftermarket PS4S being fairly similar according to this comparison, I personally would ultimately stick with the BMW * PS4S I have now, because it addresses specifically some of the dislikes he has with the aftermarket PS4S. The steering response in particular is much better with the BMW one. The second video is the comparison between the aftermarket PS4S and the BMW * PS4S to give you context and see how different the OE versions can actually be from the regular aftermarket versions. They are almost entirely different tires, but sharing a name.

Yes Tire Rack says the same thing about tuned OE versions on PS4 in the video below.

Im going for non MB or BMW OEM sizes so am interested to compare aftermarket to aftermarket. The sizes I’m shopping do have Porsche and Ferrari versions but I think that just muddies things for me?

I got feedback from some car friends that made the switch to the 02's
- Audi S4 - loved them
- Ferrari 355, GT3, TR8 - doing great, next car that needs tires getting them too
- Another guy "sidewall of 02 a little softer which makes it better on crappy roads, seems to be quieter over tar snakes"

I'm going for the Contis and will report back!

I ran the Conti ExtremeContact DWS06's on my Ford Taurus SHO. They were great for a heavy four door sedan, AWD, that made 414 hp and 546 tq to the tire. I really like the PS4's on my E63 now and I don't have winters per say, so there really isnt a reason why I would go away from them in the future. If I did I would for sure go back to Conti's.

I am one of them....well, I can go either way. The Conti has a tread life warranty...

In the car, the Mich are far more "sporty" (rough) and corner better. If I did mostly distance highway driving I would stick with Coniti. I had four sets before I recently went back to the Pilots.

Glad to hear on the Ps4's. On the m5 , there's less tire choices. Ps4 or pzero's. Mine had the pzero's on it , got used to the rigid sidewalls & actually like the feedback they give.. they can be finicky when cold.

Tried the star(bmw spec) ps4's and was not impressed on the m5 , felt to be driving on soap with the soft sidewalls. Granted they were not broken in yet , which surely changes them. Also not relative to the MO1 specs tires , so totally subjective here..

Looks like the ps5's can be a nice upgrade with sizing for the 213s.

Drove 6000-7000 miles on the Pirelli Pzeros (stock) then switched to PS4s on my w213 E63s
A year later....
Drove 7000-8000 miles on Pirelli Pzeros (stock) then switched to Continental Extreme Contacts 02 on my M8 comp coupe

I preferred the Continentals,
The PS4s did not provide the improved ride and handling that I had hoped for over the Pzeros. I did get better traction off the line with the PS4s, and better wet traction. Ride quality was marginally better, handling was really close to the ame

The Conti provided much-improved noise and tramlining resistance over the Pzeros. The ride was significantly improved! smoother yet sharper. Handling at the limits felt a lot more confident sliding around. Grip off the line was as good as the PS4s, noise and ride was much better than the PS4s

To do it over again...would have stuck with the Conti. The other half HATES the ride of the new tires.

I have always ran Conti ExtremeContact on all my Benz. I just like the brand and the design of the tires however the plus is that they are German.

2014 E63S; AMS 100 octane ECU dyno tune; EDOK TCU tune; BB intakes; sprintbooster
I consistently ran my best 60ft rollout 0-60 in my dws06's - they were my overall favorite tire and lasted the longest compared to the ps4's

After a week I’m in love!

The best part is no slap-a-basketball twang on small bumps like the PS4’s and seems much better overall ride. I’m hitting the rough spots and these tires soak it up

Not an entirely fair comparison as I also plus sized however I do believe it’s overall a lot smoother and comfortable yet not wallowy.

Win!!

What sized tires did you eventually land on?

I think if I could have another go at it I might try 285/35 or 295/35 square, just because.

The /35 is not for everyone but personally I’m loving the extra sidewall look and better ride quality.
