Anyone else notice this with Michelin P5S?

I noticed the center rib is being chewed away. Front are bad, rears perfect. Tires have about 3,000 miles worth of use and no track use and are inflated properly any ideas? Should I be worried? Thanks

Hmmm never noticed that on mine, what pressures are you running?

I suggest you to stop by at your tire shop (or dealer) and ask for inspection and perhaps they are under warranty (given you have little mileage on them)

Did you get an alignment recently?

No alignments and the other tires never did that. Running factory pressure listed on the gas cap. Only 2k miles and purchased in spring
Thanks for the tips. I'm kind of worried about the wet weather performance since the squeegee effect is gone from that rib

More than where you got them....where are you driving them? Heck, if your in Chicago they look like a normal tire on the roads there.

I have 3k miles on mine with zero issues. Definitely not what you want to see in the OP.

Usual daily drive scenarios. I'm in Detroit but it looks like part of the tire is delaminating. I bought them from a reputable Michelin dealer but he said they're a bear to work with when it comes to warranty.

Get your alignment checked (at a dealer). Detroit = potholes. I suspect it'll be very difficult to have a meaningful tire wear discussion if your answer to Obvious Question #1 is, "I don't know if the wheels are aligned to factory specs."

If it is an alignment issue then wear would be mostly near the edges, either inside or outside. Over inflation could result in center of the tread wear, and under inflation the outside edges. The pics don't seem to match any of these.

Maybe the fronts are on the rear and vice versa

@TugboatBill Agreed! Center wear suggests overinflation, but OP says the fuel flap door (presumably the lowest weight load use case) is being followed. So... very mysterious.

I suppose I'm envisioning the conversation with the tire dealer, who won't take action without a clear line of causation. Also I think of Sherlock Holmes guidance that “Once you eliminate the impossible, whatever remains, no matter how improbable, must be the truth."

It's my understanding performance tires are often molded with different injection ports at different axial locations on the tread with different compounds. The high wear rubber (?) in the middle might have a fault. If inflation and alignment are provably in spec, tire non-performance can better be supported.
