Nope, it means that the wheel your trying to install is the wrong offset, any cls can take the 255 no problem lowered as much as you want...

IF the off-set is right it should take a 265 no problem. A 255 is oem and should fit regardless of the wheel size going up 1 inch - as long as the aspect ration is correct. Going smaller is pointless and a bad idea for handling.
My question is why take off the beautiful IWC wheels! Those wheels made that car unique!

my 63 has 245's any bigger would rub, on my car anyways, if it's lowered and your wheels are fit to sit correctly and flush on the fender, a 255-35-20 would more than likely rub...I'm no tire expert, but from personal experience I would say so.

Guys from what i see its not the off set its the profile size if you go wider you must go lower in the profile size to make it not rub.
245/35/20 will fit the same as a 255/30/20.

Exactly.... you simply need to make sure the aspect ratio is correct. Bigger wheel smaller tire aspect ratio. A 20 should use 255/30/20 and 285 or 295/25/20. With correct off-sets and wheel sizes those tires should fit without rubbing on anything.

Yeah no kidding. There should be some kind of maturity policy to prevent members like this. I think he works at http://www.harbormotorsports.com/, a little sample of what the customer service must be like.
