tires for W210

Hi, all,

I am thinking of buying some wheels, which come with tires on them.
However, the size are not as recommanded on tirerack's website.
They are 225/40/18 and 255/35/18, and I know I should use 235/40/18 and 265/35/18.

But, will it be OK if I use these wrong size tires?

Thanks,
Ben

depends on the weather
those tires are shorter than recommended and do not have the proper laod capacity ..... they are close enough not to cause any problems in the short term if you run atleast 36psi in them but, when the wear out get the correct size

Better choice would be 245 in front and 275 out back.

Not a better choice. Those sizes are only recommeneded for E55's because their fender lips have been rolled by AMG. The W210 front rim is 18x8 et31. Using an 18x8 et35 will rub inside using certain tires and that offset only pushes the rim inward by 4mm.

I guess I was lucky when I put a set of E55 tires and wheels on my E430!

My guess is that you "may not" have a problem using that size if you just "drive" the car normally with respect to the outside rubbing on non fendor rolled cars using 245/40/18 tires on a 18X8 et31. However, if you performance drive the car then the rubbing and other issues like suspension bottoming out may happen. The AMG cars are built to run and drive hard and fast without any those issues hence the extra mods done to the suspension.

2018 AMG E63s
I change my wheels and tyres the day after i took delivery of my E320 8 years ago .

I have been running AMG wheels (same as the E55) 235/40/18 front and 265/35/18 rear ever since without too much problems .

Just have to avoid Sydney's pot holes after it rains .

Those sizes are for all W210 E55's outside North America. We get these from the factory in the US:

Front - 18x8 et31 - 245/40/18
Rear - 18x9 et35 - 275/35/18

Maybe MB Australia should of brought that size tyre in to compensate for our bad roads.

A higher side wall to protect our wheels a little more.
