I just blow up a tire yesterday on my C230 Coupe and I was about to get a new one from Tire Rack. But when I was ready to order I just got confused because I saw the Pilot Sport and the Pilot Sport A/S (All Season). I'm pretty sure that the ones used on the C7 package are the Pilot Sport 225/45 - 17" (on sale for $169) but I need a confirmation from the experts. Is this correct?
Thanks a lot,
Angel

Pilot Sport "Radial X"
My tires from MB says on them Michelin Pilot Sport "Radial X".
What is the radial "x" mean? Is it the same as the A/S?
I live in near Buffalo, NY. Does that make a difference and MB puts certain tires on for certain climates?

Looks like the pic above.
I actually live in Toronto, Canada. Does that make a difference? The tires definately do not have the same pattern as the A/S shown in this thread.
Thanks.
Thanks.

hey newguy2008, have you driven your car in the snow yet? That Pilot Sport is useless in snow. The A/S a little better.
Maybe you might also invest in a set of Winter Tires - Michelin Pilot Alpin:

I had little alternative as far as winter rims. MB is very smart and almost forces you to buy their Winter package for $3,800 ($2500.U.S.) , plus taxes. Normal steel rims do not fit.

I KNOW THIS INFORMATION IS TOO LATE BUT...
newguy2008, you would have come out cheaper getting a complete set from www.TireRack.com. You also could have used 16" wheels and tires which are even better in snow. Tire Rack also list a black steel wheel for $48 in size 16X7.5 for Mercedes.
I don't know which car you have but for W203 C-Class a 17" AMG Double Spoke set with the Pirelli 210 225/45/17 winter tire was priced around $1900 and cheaper with the Dunlop M2 which was $22 per tire less than the Pirelli.

newguy2008, Mercedes dealers and parts advisor never recommend anything that is not OEM or non MB and since the CLK430 standard wheel is 17 they will have no information about any 16 inch wheels.
However, Tire Rack is very reliable with their recommendations. They do list 16 inch wheels in their Winter wheel section for CLK430. They list 23 16" wheel models plus a 16X7.5 inch black steel wheel. This means they have test fit the wheel.
I don't believe that the CLK430 has bigger brakes than the CLK320 so 16" wheels should be no problem. The CLK55 does have larger brakes and 16 may not fit.
Additionally, you will not find many sources especially from the dealer that list a 17" wheel for the W210 E55 however, there are some that fit and some that don't.
Check out my Saturday Driveway At Home test of various 17 inch wheel fitments on my E55.

Nice. I like the 2nd and the spare tire the best.
Thanks for the reply.
