Wider tire
On my car it came with 215/45 ZR17. The tire I want only comes in 225/45 ZR17. Will this throw off suspension or speedometer or looks? The car has 17"x 7.0 rims.

No big deal. My car came with 245/40-17 in the rear, now I have 255/40-17.

I usually try to keep the tire size within a half a percent of stock tire size, unless I'm looking for different performance levels.

A difference of 1.4%: say you are traveling at 100Mph as indicated on your speedometer. You're actual speed would be 101.4Mph

It'll be okay, but if you're a really aggressive cornerer, then you may get a little more sidewall rollunder than if you had 17x7.5 or 17x8 rims. If you can find a tire that really stiff sidewalls, that may help counter that tendency...

EDIT: here's a pic of me at Lime Rock in 11/01. Tires are Nitto NT-450's in 225/45-17 mounted on 17x7.5 rims. You can see from the rear tire that even then there's a bit of deflection. It would only be worse if you use 17x7 rims. However, for everyday driving, you'd be fine.
