MRR GT1 wheels need special air valves...?

I've been struggling with blown tires on one of my MRR GT1's and today I find out the cause seems to be the valve stem not holding air and the tire always being low on air pressure... The Tech that mounted/dismounted the tire 3 times today and 6 times in the last 4 months claims they have no air valves that fit the wheel, an MRR GT1 19x9.5 ... They even tried the hi-perf style valve stem that has a locknut and gaskets and it leaks air too... Do these wheels take special valve stems or am I just cursed with a bad wheel...?

Bad shop?

I have that wheel on my Z and I don't have a problem I'm running 19x8.5 and 19x10. Installed one time and no worries. Good luck

Took the wheel/tire to another shop that works on alot of high-perf wheels, trucks, etc... We squirted a little tire lube soap on the vavle stem (metal style with licking nut) and sure enough, the air is leaking out at the base of the valve stem... They are trying to determine what is causing the air to leak past ANY valve stem that they try but so far, no word back yet... MRR does appear to be willing to warranty the wheel if it's required...

It should just be a standard pull through or bolt in valve stem, nothing special at all. I would say either these shops aren't as quality as you'd think, or the more likely problem is the valve hole is slightly larger than the standard stem diameter.

3 shops and a total of 9 valve stems and none will hold air in the tire... The valve bore looks fine as far as anyone can tell... Only thing I can figure is the wheel is cracked at the valve stem bore... Trying to get it warranteed now by MRR...

The wheel went back to MRR last week and they said the warranty claim has been authorized and a new wheel is on its way... They didn't give me any details as to what they determined to be the cause of the wheel leaking air at the valve stem...

Well, over a week has gone by since I got the email stating the warranty claim has been authorized and a new wheel was on the way and no wheel, no tracking number, no email response, no voicemail response from MRR Customer Service department... It's starting to appear that MRR has blown me off my car still sits in the garage ( over 2 weeks now) with no wheel...
This is bull****...!

I have those same exact wheels on my E350. I'm running 20x8.5 & 20x10, had them on for about a year now & had no trouble with them (knock on wood). It's strange to hear MRR brush you off like that. Their customer service is usually pretty good.

Good luck!

I honestly don't know what the problem is... It's not like I'm asking alot to resolve this issue... I bought a set of wheels, one of which won't hold air and has ruined 3 tires and cost me alot more than the cost of the wheel itself... All I want is for someone at MRR to honor the warranty, send me a good wheel so I can get my car back on the road... As of this morning, still no email, no voicemail, no tracking number, nothing... I'm sure the next communication I get from MRR will be a bunch of excuses but the reality is, I sent them the defective wheel in good faith at my own cost, sent them the tracking #, it was delivered and they sent me email stating the warranty claim was approved... Since then, nothing... It's been over 2 weeks since I sent them the wheel... Am I being unreasonable here...? Is this good customer service...? Do they care at all about customers...? I even tried to get the wheel distributor ( a well known member on this website ) involved but so far, there involvement has been to pass the buck and pretty much blame me for using an incompetant shop to mount the tires to the wheels... Last question is, how likely am I to ever buy MRR wheels again or buy from the Distributor...?
