1994 Mercedes Benz E320 Coupe
wheel sizes?
Hey as you will be able to tell I am a noobie when it comes to working on cars. I have a 1994 mercedes benz e320 coupe. It has everything stock on it but Im looking to upgrade to new either chrome or alloy wheels (just for looks). I have no idea what size the wheel i should buy to fit my car. I know that there are five nuts on each wheel but I am unsure what size exactly will fit onto the wheel flange(I think thats the term). I am looking at wheels that are around 17 inches. ould i need new tires as well if i were to go with bigger wheels by lets say 2 or 3 inches?

I would look at upgrading the 15" OEM wheels to 16" MB wheels from a 1996 - 2002 E-Class (W210 body). They are reasonably priced, and readily available ... often with decent tires already mounted. FWIW - wheels from a 2003 or newer E-Class will NOT fit your car, as they require different diameter lug bolts.
Personally, I would not go to the 17". I have the 16" E320 wheels on my 1991 300CE (Coupe), and 1989 300E (sedan), and they make the car look much newer, nicer & sleeker.

another question.....
I found some wheels and tires for sale that I'm thinking about buying. The reason I am looking at these instead of mercedes wheels b/c they are in my price range. The size of the tires are 245/ 45 / r18. Would these fit my 1994 Benz E320 Coupe?

though I am not a wheel/tire *expert*, I doubt 18" wheels will fit in an area designed for 15", unless you seriously change the profile of the tires. This would defeat the quality of the ride and performance (IMO). As a side note, the information I have on the W124 coupe & sedan (1986 - 1995 E-Class), indicates that modifications usually have to be made when opting for 17" wheels & tires, let alone 18".
In addition to the size of the tire, you also have to look at the width of the tire as well. 245/45/18 is the same tire on my wife's S-Class. Going with a larger diameter tire will cause enough problems, but I suspect that tire would likely scrape your fender wells (if they even fit). There are more than enough options for decent / low cost MB (preowned) wheels & tires, with OEM quality, versus a potential unknown quality, fitment, casting, offset, etc.
Here is a pic of the wheels from 2000 - early 2002 W210 E-Class (slight variation was made through 1999 as well). I will see if I can find a pic of my W124 Coupe or Sedan with the same wheels & tires.

Here's a pic of my 1989 300E sedan ... peaking out from underneath the car cover. Not the best picture to appreciate the wheels ... but think you get the idea. This is called an 11-hole wheel (2000 to early 2002).
Separate pic of the alternate (slightly older wheel) W210 wheel posted as well. this is called a 10-hole wheelm annd was installed on W210's, up to 1999.
I have to keep on diggin to get a pic of the Coupe with the 16" MB wheels

yeah...
the wheels on my Benz now look like these (no my car doesnt look like that, just the wheels): 
I'm trying to install new wheels/tires that have a more sporty look. Thats why I was thinking a bigger wheel/tire. I see now I will need around the same size of wheel to fit the car. I would still like wheels like these:

The JPG's show your existing wheels to be what are often called 8-hole wheels ... used primarily on 94-95 E-Class (perhaps 93 as well?). You are looking for a 5-spoke AMG wheel. Looks like that Spruce Green E320 was wearing 16's, or possibly 17's. You should have no problem with 16" wheels from SLK, CLK, C-Class or W210 E-Class (1996 - 2002). If you jump to 17", I would avoid staggered wheels, as you might encounter fitment issues with the wider wheels/tires. Documentation I have for W124's shows that modification is often (if not always) needed if you plan to use 17's.
