Continental Extreme Contact DWS VS. Pirelli P-Zero Nero A/S
Luke,
In a previous thread, I asked if you recommended the new Continental Extreme Contact DWS for my 2005 SL600. You stated, that for my car, I should not get that tire, but rather the Pirelli P-Zero Nero A/S.
My question, is why? What makes the Conti not a good choice? The reason I ask, is that its a bit cheaper and a newer design than the P-Zero. My original Michelin Pilot Sports with 16K miles on them are starting to drive me bonkers with the amount of roar they're producing. I'm looking for a non-directional, mega high performance all-season tire that is quiet, comfortable and able to keep 500hp and 600 lb-ft of torque planted to the road for occasional 150mph + runs.
My guess is that this tire does not exist for all of my requirements, but I'd sure like to get as many of them as possible.

Went with the Contis. It's like driving a different car. The OEM Michelin Pilot Sports had gotten so loud, it sounded like I had a bad wheel bearing.
The Contis got a lot of attention at the MB dealer who installed them. They had never seen them before and seemed very interested by the tread pattern. Looks pretty cool.

depends on the weather
In our head to head testing the new Pirelli P-Zero Nero AS (note it's not the old P-Zero Nero M&S) beat the Continental Extreme Contact DWS. The Continental did out perform the Pirelli on our test track in the wet but the Pirelli won out in the dry in the end the Pirelli won overall because of better ride quality.

I got them for my E. So far I like them very much. Quiet and the wet grip is great. Dry grip kinda blows. I can't launch it for sh*t now. It's an ok trade off. I don't drive the car as hard as I should.

Or more likely, it's because I'm a rockstar in these parts. The men want to be me and women want to be with me. It's the burden I bear, but I've gotten used to it.

Not sure. They were just saying that they've never seen them before, and that the tread pattern was a bit wild.

You gonna sell me the E when you are ready?
