H&R Cup kit on E430 disappointed...
I just installed the H&R Cup kit, and its less than what I was expecting. I was expecting a really stiff ride, instead its still pretty soft.
Will Koni shock get me a stiffer ride?

depends on the weather
now .... let me understand this .... you are disapointed because the car has a very aggressive lowered stance and still maintains good ride quality .... and remember it is a proggressive rate spring which does stiffen more as it is compressed to increase your handling ability

I thought the Cup Kit was for the E320? If so, maybe the added weight of the V8 changes the performance & dynamics of the kit designed for a 6 cylinder E-Class.

As with progressive springs, the more weight you put on it the stiffer it gets...well the V8 is definately more weight than the V6, and it's not as stiff as I like. Personally I think it's the shocks.
I recently test drove a Mitsubishi Evolution VIII, and I LOVE that stiff ride. It's a heart pounding, mind you not BOUNCING, suspension. I was hoping my benz will be CLOSE to that ride, rather it's still pretty soft for my taste.
Any forum members here that has a H&R/Koni combination in the LA area...I really like to feel that.

Out Of Control!!
The H&R cup kit is working exactly as it should on your car. It is a soft ride on 320s and 430s. Just as the H&R springs for the 430 are the same as the 320 spring, you can use the 320 cup kit on the 430; even if others say otherwise.
If you want, I can arrange a time for you to meet up with Bruce (lowryder) and myself to compare the H&R/Koni combination and my H&R/Kleemann combination. Keep in mind, both cars are CLK's, but you can still get an accurate depiction of how it woudl feel.

Okay, I'll give you a call maybe next week or week after. I am getting some other stuff done to the car the next couple of weeks.
I wanted to talked to you about tthe hi-flow manifold, and the pulley while I'm there.

2002 E320 Special Edition
Just curious. How does the H&R Cup compares to H&R/Bilstein Sport on a 2002 E320?
I have installed the H&R Sport/Bilstein Sport on my 95 M3 and it is exactly what I wanted. Good ride without too harsh on uneven pavement. Also, thanks to the Tirerack advice on selecting the Bridgestone S-03, a great tire on wet & dry plus excellent handling and ride, however, there is one major trade-off: steering response. Definitely not as sharp as the Michelin Pilot MXX3 that I had before (must be those stiff sidewall).
Thanks in advance.
