What is the consensus on using spacers for an SL55? I hear a lot of "avoid spacers at all costs", but not one example of a bad outcome. I can get a pretty good deal on a set of wheels & tires, but I'd need to use spacers. Please comment if you can contribute some useful info. Thanks

I have H&R 10mm spacers in the front of my E63, Look better with a wider track. I got them the on my 997 turbo too, front and rear and I don't have any problems. Make sure the spacers are hub centric and use longer lugs. Wider is better!!Originally Posted by DoctorJeff

I have the H&R 10 mm spacers on front and rear of my C55. I love the way it looks and no vibration issues. I tried the H&R 5 mm on the rear and it does not have the centering ring. I then had vibration issues above 80 mph. I would not recommend the H&R 5mm spacers.
Thanks for the replies. The wheels are coming off an SL500 and he says he uses "16mm spacers in the front". Now I don't know if these are good to use or if these will even clear the AMG brakes.

If you need the spacers I have HubCentric spacers available and I have the longer bolts that you need to safely use them.

Indeed avoid spacers at all costs.
If you need spacers you're trying to fit wheels not made for your car.
Why would you do that?

Just out of curiosity, most of the spacers that we sell are for cars using stock wheels. They are very popular upgrades on Porsche BMW and Mercedes factory wheels. You cannot really say that the manufacturers put wheels on the car that do not fit from the factory.Originally Posted by lkchris

The fact is that some customers would rather have a more aggressive look and the can get that look through the use of wheel spacers. As long as you purchase the correct product and the correct length bolts to hold the wheels in place you will never have any issues.
To say that you are using spacers to try and fit wheels not made for your car is a false statement and a little misleading.
I'm just looking at wheels coming from an SL500 for my SL55 and he says he used 16mm spacers. I really don't know much about wheels and that is why I'm here asking you guys who have more experience. I will see if these wheels were made for the SL or not when I meet the seller at a local tire shop.

I am also using 10mm H&R spacers front and rear with no problems.

I have 10mm hub centric spacers on the rear of my car. Personally, I would not do more than a 10mm. Maybe 12mm max depending on the situation.

I see the H&Rs, any other place to get them?
RPM what would be a price on 10mm spacers with and without bolts? These are hubcentric?

Porsche has been racing on spacers for years. It is important that you lug bolt has sufficient thread engagement so your wheel and tire don't pass you on the highway. Spacers will also move your wheel and tire outward, thus changing the offset. Also too thick a spacer will push your wheel off of the hub and may compromise some ride quality. I prefer wheels that fit but to save a bunch of money and use some .250 or thinner spacers may be ok too.Originally Posted by DoctorJeff

The smallest Hub Centric spacer we have is 13mm and they would cost you $28.00 each and the correct bolts would cost you $3.00 each. We use a scm435 hardened steel bolt that is chromed unlike our competitors. The difference between them is that if the competitors bolts are over torqued they will stretch and the bolts will not hold the wheel on correctly. If you are using a stock Mercedes wheel make sure that you purchase a ball seat bolt as well, not a conical seat.Originally Posted by GHAZAN

I have HRE 547R 20x9" with Hankook EVO V12 255/30/20 for the front. The wheels have 31mm offset and sit flush when I was at stock height, but now that I'm lowered on links the wheels are pushed in because of the camber. What size spacers would you recommend me to buy? Thanks.Originally Posted by Staff@RPM
