hi luke

I just got the wheels with the following setting I would like to know what is the correct tire pressure and what type of tire
I should get. I have a 2001 clk430 and drive mostly in SoCal L.A. area.

F - 8.5x19 235/35/19
R - 9.5x19 265/35/19

thanks

I would stay away from Nittos if I were you. I've had nothing but bad experiences with them. They're horrible in the rain, even with 95% tread, I still hydroplaned in No. Cal winter. Tire pressure is personal preference. Some ride on their 19"s with 32 psi, some like me with 40+ psi. With the lower pressure, you get a more comfortable ride, with a higher psi (40+ psi) the ride is noticably more harsh. Some say with a higher psi, the pressure will privide protection against potholes and others say that softer psi will absort more impact from the pothole rather than transfering the shock through the sidewall. It's up to you, start off with 32 psi and see if it's too soft for you, then pump to 40 and see if it's too harsh, then compensate by releasing pressure until your desired setting.

IMO, Bridgestone Potenza S03's or Toyo Proxes T1S. I currently have Toyo's and love them. I have a wholesaler for Toyo's if you're interested. Send me a PM if you would like the info.

You shouldnt put 265/35/19 at the rear, the proper size should be 265/30/19.

Toyo T1-S has always been my favorite tire.

38 psi (f) and 36 psi (r) is a pretty good setup.

Good catch Harris, I didn't catch the "35" in his request. Yeah, I have the FZ4's now but will be switching to the T1-S because I'm getting 19X10's for the rear and Toyo doesn't make a 275/30 in the FZ4. I really like my Toyo's as well...

Is there a reason why Tire Rack doesn't offer a popular tire like the Toyo?

screwy dealer agreements and quality issues in the past .... don't know if all of those have been ironed out or not

But they offer Pilot Sports and S03's, I recently switched from Pilot Sports to S03's and I am very happy with them. For one, they are at least 1/2" wider than Pilot Sports and they look great!

Definitely Toyos. The tread compound seems to be better than most. I went from Dunlop SP Sport 5000 to the Proxes TPT, BIG difference in both dry and wet handling, and a LOT less wheelspin around corners.
