serious issue with rear wheels

hi to all,

i just picked up my DPE wheels (19x8 and 19x10 w/ 265/30) and im having a serious problem with the rear wheels. the wheels fit perfect, no rubbing whats so ever. the only problem is that when i put the car in gear and step on the gas i hear a loud metal grinding sound comming from the rear break area. i think it sounds like the lug nuts are grinding against the e break disk. so i figure that the lug nuts are too long. so i was wondering if anyone else had similar problems when they upgraded to 19in wheels. so i spent all day today and yesterday tring to find ball seat lug nuts for my car, i was unsuccessful. so if any one knows of a place where i can get them please let me know.

thanks,
gg

Yes, this THAT IS your problem. You need shorter lug nuts. The bad news is you probably have damaged your parking break and will need to replace the damaged parts.

yup... he is absolutely right...

for the most part, if you noticed it early, and stopped driving it, the e-brakes should still be ok... but then, that all depends on how long the bolt was.

If you remove the bolt and check the NEW SHAVINGS on the threads, if only a small portion of the thread is shaved, then, your e-brakes might be ok...

Just take it to a shop and have them cut the bolts shorter to size, or do it urself...

The wheels should have come with the correct size bolts, or at least they should have let you know.

okay so ive been looking for lug bolts for the past week. ive been to every discount tires around my area. ive ordered a set, and when i got them they were still the wrong size. when i picked up the wheels, no new lub bolts were supplied when i got the wheels, they said my stock ones should work fine. please correct me if im wrong but the stock lug bolts for my car is a 40mm, and the size i need is a 32mm. do you think that would work fine. also what would be the best way to cut my stock lug bolts.

thanks.

depends on the weather
You probably do not have a parking brake any longer either ... and it is caused by excessivley long lug bolts

luke,

i was wondering whats the shortest lug bolt i can put on my car. ive gone from the stock 40mm to a 33, and now a 28mm which is still kinda long. i couldnt drive the car with the 40mm and 33mm, when the car was in gear with those lug bolts, the car wouldnt even move until i hit the gas. but with the 28mm the car actually moves when its in gear with out the press of the gas. but it is still slightly brubbing against the ebreak disk or the spring. its a slight tapping sound. so whats the shorts lug bolt i can go with and still be safe.

thanks,
gg
