If it's for a Mercedes

you need a 17 mm.I'd suggest a 6-point socket,not a 12-point.

Steve,

thanks a lot.. btw do you know what lb/ft should i set it at?

I think i should buy a torque wrench but im not so sure, the wheel shops here claim their air guns are "pre torqued" to the right specs..but i always remember the mechanics in the US torque each wheel with a wrench after the installation of all 4 wheels.

80 ft-lbs is a good number

Although it's always best to refer to your owners' manual for the proper tightening torque....Mercedes torque specs and my memory sometimes don't agree.

Air wrenches are OK for the initial tightening, and then finish with a manual torque wrench.Over-torqueing wheel fasteners is the best way that I know of to cause brake rotor problems.

Be sure to double check all the wheel bolts after about 100 miles of driving;they'll occasionally loosen after the initial torqueing.

yup 80 is what I torque mine at.

sears craftsman has a pretty good torque wrench that is what I have 1/2 inch drive with extension and 17mm 6 point socket. Works great.
