What wheels look good on an E55???

I have a 2001 E55 with 19inch BBS LM wheels. IMO, one of the best looking wheels for this car. I have the opportunity to get another set of wheels and tires so I can switch back and forth for advertising purposes. What do you guys/girls think would be good as a second set. I don't want any mesh design as that is what the LM's look like. The setup will have to be 19 inch in diameter, staggered fit with 245/275 tires.

Here are some thoughts I have:

1. Lorinser LM1's
2. Lorinser LM5's
3. AMG 2 Piece wheels (several options, CL, SL)
4. Brabus Mono VI's (not Mono V's- I had them already)
5. Carlsson 1/6
6. Carlsson 2/6
7. Kleeman

Any others?? Please post pics if you can too. Thanks for helping out in this tough decision .

I am nothing if not predictable ...

Vic,

I've said it before ... and I'll surely say it again ... there's no wheel that looks as good on a MB than the AMG Monoblock (although you've almost changed my mind with your current set-up)

Had the monoblocks already in the 19 inch format- thanks for the suggestion Drew but I would like a 2 piece or 3 piece wheel if possible.

Drew I think you need to change your wheels

I would say:

1. Lorinser LM5
2. Brabus Monoblock VI

I love the Kleemann wheel but IMHO it looks better on the CLK.

Now when you say the Carlsson 2/6, do you mean the new one? The new version (called Carlsson 2/6 brilliant) is either brand new or coming out soon. However, i'm not particularly fond of the new version (go to www.carlsson.de to see it if you haven't already)

Too many people have AMGs (including me). if you want to set the car apart, get something different. If you want to have a nice stock type look, go with the new CL 2-piece. That's a nice one. It's just that it's not that much different from the set that you already got from the factory (which are already very nice BTW)

My two (make that three) cents....

Thanks Lee, I actually like the new 2/6 and I have always liked the 1/6 but a buddy of mine has an E55 in my town already with the 1/6's so I didnt want the same exact car as his since we see each other a lot. Is this the wheel you were talking about....

The only wheel I'm even thinking of changing ... is the steering-wheel (that is if Mr. Vanos can see it in his heart to cut me a deal on that Black Bird's Eye Maple & Leather beauty sitting on the shelf at Evosport ... just gathering dust)

i used to have lowenharts...they are pretty nice wheels if you like that style. i know some people on this board don't like chrome or those types of bling bling wheels because they are more into performance. i like both styles, however. i ended up putting those on the CLK temporarily until I can make my own decision.

Hey Lee I dont think chrome is necessarily bad on Benzes (Bling Bling). Your ride looked clean with chrome because the red is a nice contrast. I dont like chrome on silver cars but that is just my opinion.

I personally think German wheels should stay on German cars. Call me weird, call me whatever but once again its just my opinion. Just like I would never want to see Brabus or Carlsson's on a Lexus or Hartge or Breyton's on a Benz. Yes, I know the bolt pattern is different but anything can be done and I have seen it happen.

I think the Carlsson 2/6 Brilliant would look sweet on an E55. The finish looks great on a silver car (not too shiny). Also, I think they have a considerably distinctive look from the 1/6 Evo.

I think I am leaning that way.... new wheel, cool finish, and I can put a big fat 10 inch wheel in the rear.

jam, that red CLK is one of mine. it has #1 pads, eibach springs, no shocks. the wheels are 19x8.0 ET40 F and 19x9.0 ET40 R. The AMG kit was just fitted 15 minutes before that pic was taken.

vic, the funny thing is i agree with you regarding the german wheels thing. I bought those a long time ago (sigh...in my youth, before I knew anything) I agree, silver E55s look better with silver german wheels.

Daez_nuts, I agree. The Carlsson brilliant ed. would look good on silver, like it does on yours!!!

For some reason they just look ok. Looks almost like a mesh type.

I moved this reply from my part 2 post...

jam, i meant no AFTERMARKET shocks...i still have the original ones in there (I hope)

That Brabus MB VI looks pretty good on the E-class...perhaps a little "sportier" than their previous wheels. However, I think i'm still partial to the Lorinser LM5 and the new Carlsson 2/6 is gaining fast.

hey vic, how 'bout these? Go for the ultralight forged on the right in 19x8.5, 19x9.5. Talk about something different. Forged/polished stuff looks good on silver.

Those arent bad Lee but I am trying to have 2 completely different types of wheels and those are kind of close to the BBS wheels I already have. They are in the same family with all those spokes. I like the LM5's- What do you think of the LM1's and the AMG SL 2 piece wheels???
