Out of All the Mercedes-Benz Models, Goldilocks Would Drive the “Just Right” E-Class Coupe

Mercedes-Benz makes many cars, and especially in recent years, they make many variations of those many cars. Somewhere in this process, the all-new 2018 E-Class Coupe was born. And one of the first things that you will notice when taking a look at this car is that it looks exactly like a large C-Class Coupe or a small S-Class Coupe — which is just what it is. The Goldilocks of the Mercedes coupe lineup, if you will.

With the latest iterations of the S, C, and E-Class, Mercedes-Benz has been on a bit of a roll. As with the others, the E-Class Coupe is stunning to behold. The elongated body is bigger than the outgoing 2017 model, and generally far-better looking. The 2018 Coupe is 4.8-inches longer, 2.9-inches wider, and 1.3-inches taller than the previous model. And it rides on a wheelbase that is 4.4-inches longer.

What this translates to is a much more comfortable ride for passengers, with improved head, leg, and shoulder room for both front and rear passengers. Under the E400-spec hood, a 3.0-liter twin-turbo V6 provides 329 horsepower and 354 lb-ft of torque, good for 0 to 60 in 5.2 seconds. Expect the insane AMG version — if not two versions —  in the coming months.

Inside, the E400 Coupe takes cues directly from the sedan with a standard 12.3 center display. It can be mated to a matching twin-screen, giving the driver a 24-inch “widescreen cockpit.” New interior details include LED lighting offering 64 different colors (because why not?) and turbine-style air vents, which are by far the best subtle detail of the interior. Multiple wood trims are also available to help you dress up the interior as classy as you’d like. Much like its sedan sibling, the E-Class Coupe gets the the impressive MB suite of safety features, including many autonomous features like adaptive cruise control.

Mercedes-Benz seems to be planting itself firmly in the business of making very attractive two-door vehicles, and the 2018 E-Class Coupe is no exception. Look forward to seeing them at your local shopping mall or Whole Foods closer to the end of 2017.
