Seat Control Module
The seat control module in my 2001 C320 is causing a drain in my battery. I want to investigate this issue by looking at the module itself. If you have instructions on how to remove the module from under the seat, instructions for opening it up, and schematics, please attach them in this thread.

Taking the module out is really easy.
IIRC:
Unplug a few plugs that you can see from the under front of the seat(s).
Push a few clips around and pull. It should come out really easily.
As for diagrams of the thing itself. I dunno? You can get a new module shipped to you for about 200 bux.

The passenger seat on my 2002 C320 does not travel back more than half way. I have looked for jams in the track and have found nothing out of the ordinary. Can someone tell me if this can also be a control module problem?

The seat moves in all directions. Its just the module staying awake and causing a drain in the battery. Is there a specific chip/IC on this module that's causing this?

well.. like i stated before. my seat would not move back at all. operational in all directions except reverse. i initially thought that it was the control module and purchased one. the module did not correct my problem. i took my car to the dealer and they replaced a seat motor that was dedicated to reverse.
i dont know what exactly in the faulty motor would cause this... besides the plan fact that the motor went bad....

I’m having battery drainage problems too. I just unplugged the leads to the modules in both seats and recharged my NEW BATTERY. However I’m confused here, when the key is out of the ignition there is NO POWER to the seats. So how can the controllers drain the battery? Also I am trying to verify if you have to change both or just one. I wanted to start with the passenger side and see if this solves the problem. Does anyone KNOW FOR SURE if you have to change BOTH?
Respectfully

Hmm, my battery has been draining too. I unhooked the seats but it still happens..My mechanic is pulling his hair out trying to find the cause of the drain.
All I can think of is I think this problem started after I tried to give someone a jump. I've done lots of reading on this problem but..Any ideas?
thanks.

It could be anywhere, however the most likely culprit is your seat control modules, these are located under your seats. They control the movement. They are electrical parts and have a life-expectancy. Heat work on electrical parts, when you park your car outside in the summer months it has a toll on electrical parts then they fail. Unplug your seats, there will be a 3 conductor cable I believe its a #14 wire in the front of each seat, then see if your battery drains after 3 days or so. If this solves the drainage probem thats the culprit. In my case it was not. It was an aftermarket sub woofer that was not shutting off. However the seat modules go bad often. There have been several post of members having to change them out @ 1k parts and labor. I have 2 modules NEW IN A SEALED BOX if this is your problem. They sell for 300 each I have them for sale @ 500. Again NEW NEVER OPENED BOX.

1k in parts + labor is ridiculous :x That is ALOT of labor.
It takes almost 20 minutes to swap them out if ya know what you're doing... the process took me about 30 mins to swap mine out. I guess it also took a few 10 minute sessions to unplug fuses and let the car sit for a day though. Also it only took my broken seat module one day to drain my battery....

here's my write up on how to replace the control modules.
I recently replaced mine and it solved the drainage issues.
