2006 C230 "Turn Signal, Left Mirror" warning light?
Greetings,
I did a search but still have some questions...
My wife's 2006 C230SS just showed a "Turn Signal, Left Mirror" warning signal in the dashboard display. I tried to activate the left turn signal, the dash ticker sounded in a little faster 'tick tick tick', and the LEDs in the left mirror were not lighting up.
My quick questions are...
- Does it mean that the LEDs are burned out (I thought LEDs have long life) or some bad connections?
- Can I replace the LEDs myself or I need to visit the dealer service department (the owner's manual said visit dealer)? If I can do it myself, what are the procedures?
Thanks for any help
With best regards,

Oh, one more question... I assume that the mirror turn signal LED is not covered under warranty? If yes, then I would just head to the dealer parts department for a new one and replace it myself...
Thanks, and with best regards,
- Alex.

diodes are longer life. yet they are only as good as the circuit they are connected too. bad connection, lots of vibration, theyll go out. led's dont go out all at once as far as i know though.

i had condensation in my drivers side mirror signal lens, took it to the dealer and they replaced the lens unit under warranty.
the service advisor said that some dealers do not replace due to condensation, led's out, etc., but some do....so, i would make a call before taking it in.
also, with regards to the led's...led's usually burn out individually. if the whole group is out, than its prob a diff problem...like the led circuit board, fuse, or soemthing along those lines. that should def be covered under warranty as its not simply a "wear and tear" item.

Thanks folks,
After seeing your feedbacks, I guess I am going to let me dealer take a look of it first. I will keep it posted. Thanks again.

hello
reviving an old thread here but the same thing just happened to me on my 2005 c230k. For a few weeks its been giving me an error saying that the left turn signal mirror was out. it wasnt, kept working just fine until this morning when its actually gone out. im just wondering what is the cost of purchasing the unit from the dealership? or can it be bought elsewhere?

They're about 25 each side on RM European. Dealership would be more, of course.
You can sometimes pick them up in the classifieds, as people switch them out for other versions. People switch more than partners at a West Virginia family reunion.
It's a fairly simple swap; the second one will take you about 3-5 minutes to do. The first one will be substantially longer, until you realize that it's much easier to do than you think.

This happened on my 06.. one day everything perfect.. next day I would get the light.. day after that perfect... Then again a message the next day. I removed the mirror to check everything. When putting it back on, I had my brother help and make sure the connections were "snug". Basically forcing it in as much as possible. No message since then. You will usually hear a small click when its in place. I read on a few other benz forums that this is a common problem in the w203 and that it is indeed just a connection failure. Apparently bumps, vibrations, condensation, etc. tend to cause the connection to come loose.

its usually the wire on the harness is either bent, cut, or exposed grounding out. You can actually put the mirror forward (toward the front of the car) and see the wiring. You can get some electrical cleaner and spray it and see if it'll help. If know you'll just have to remove the mirror and replace the harness.

Phister, your car is really nicE haha. But the reason I'm assuming the turn signal clicks faster is because the circuit is setup to give a certain amount of power towards the lights but because one light isn't working, means the circuit gets finished faster therefore it can begin again faster.
I checked this when pulling my rear turn signal bulb, and once again wIth the front turn signal

Here's an oldie but a goodie on removing the mirror cover.

Once you've done that, it's just remove a couple of screws and remove the light strip. Piece of cake once you know how.
EDIT: I notice that it's in the same thread as the post you provided above. Only thing that's not shown is the removal of the light strip, but as stated, it's simple.

Can you post a pic of your mirrors with the guts exposed? There has to be a release tab somewhere. I'm assuming they're the original ones, right?
