Early W210 Blower Motor Regulator Replacement DIY Here...
Oh yeah, order a new cabin filter while you're at it...and wear eye protection as there is probably a ton of leaves and dirt up in there.
BTW, if you already replaced the cabin filter, you'll need all of 6 minutes to swap out your regulator. It sounds like your cabin filter was in a worse shape than mine, so expect your regulator to be covered with leaves, dust and dirt as well. No surprise that they go bad in that type of environment, even if it's an electrical part.
Thanks much for the DIY -- the pictures in particular made it pretty easy, and with one hour's time and a hundred bucks the fan in my E300D now blows like a cat 1 hurricane. Add in that I had a chance to teach my son to solder, and it's a win-win all around.

Ya it has gotten cold quick in my area. This morning both the Heat & Defrost barely worked at all ... no airflow, and my HEAT temp wasnt warm at all .. dont knwo if that was just due to NO airflow at all. So what pieces or parts did you replace exactly ???
thanks again...these Forums are lifesavers! I am also working on a my sunroof not opening, great total instructional on the main forum list..pics & instructions!!

On Ebay's main page search:
MERCEDES BLOWER MOTOR REGULATOR W210 E320 E300D E420
Two items will come up. I bought the harness for 99.99 + 5 bucks shipping.
This is not an endorsement to buy from this exact seller (though frankly they were timely and the thing works great), but this one piece fixed all my ills. My vehicle is a 97 E300 diesel, and I think this one works for a wide variety of MBs.
Regarding whether or not this would fix all your problems I can't say, but for $105 bucks and two hours of your time, it's probaby a great starting point.
Good luck.

SPOOKF16 - All good brother i am definitely gonna check Ebay out, although i do not have a PayPal account yet. But i looked up on autohaus ... so i will see what i can come up with! Let you all know how it turns out. Next is the damn sunroof !! Arrrrgg
Behr Blower Motor Resistor/Regulator; Late version with female connector. Part Number: 2108211551 List: $210 / AutoHausAZ Price: $90.37
QUESTION: Is the BLOWER MOTOR REGULATOR/RESISTOR the only part I need to get the blower operable? From reviewing the thread, I am assuming that I will not need to replace the actual blower motor or the blower motor housing cover. See info below from autohausaz.com:
Behr Late Model Blower Motor Assembly with Male Connector.
Part Number: 2108206842. List $300 / AutoHausAZ Price: $231.56
Behr Blower Motor Housing Cover. Part Number: 2108352740
List: $54.71 / AutoHausAZ Price: $40.46
Per rec from thread I also plan to replace Cabin Air Filters:
Mann Cabin Air Filter/Pollen Filter; With Activated Charcoal; At Blower Case Side; Set of 2. List: $72.95 / AutoHausAZ Price: $64.74
DO I HAVE IT RIGHT? ANY SUGGESTIONS? Thanks much.

(it seams to work ok)
Regulator came from www.worldcarparts.co.uk.

Can't believe how much air flow I now have. Can't recall it ever being like that and we have had car since 2001.
Thanks to all who provided this thread.
P.S. I did this duirng Feb 2011 and purchased the part from Importec for $69.95. I am interested in looking for a part that may last a little longer.

One interesting note, the vendor supplied the "modification" instructions. When I opened them they were the same pictures and text from this thread.
