The dreaded day finally arrived :(
Wow... dang CEL, joined the bandwagon of the C230 with the same problem
... from my mechanic:
"Found faults for Oxygen Sensors, recirculating air flap, and coolant temp sensor. Found the camshaft adjuster leaking oil into the electrical connector which is getting into the wiring harness and traveling to other components of the system and shorting them out, Recomend replacing the cam adjuster, wiring harness pigtail and full wiring harness"
The goodies needed:
111-057-01-77: Camshaft Adjuster Soleinoid ($57)
271-150-27-33: Harness Pigtail ($30)
203-540-89-05: Engine Wiring Harness ($398)
Not that bad, the Engine harness is $398 but there is in backorder... with no ETA
Total labor around $522.50
ughhh, any recomendations on where to find one? are they taking advantange of me? This is a pain, I really though that my type of engine was less prone to that particular issue but I guess I was wrong.
I have to drive my car and I'm afraid that it will just going to get worse.
Helpy please and thank you!

I've heard the TSB was somewhere but for some reason the dealerships refuse to change all the parts... go figure.
Do you have the TSB number by any chance?

sweet, I took the car to the stealership today and they are checking the campaign. Do you guys think that they'll replace everything for free? I hope so but I doubt it
I got a C300 loaner... hmmm... loaner....
anyways, wish me luck... I hope they'll fix everything that is wrong and get my piece running again.

Stand on your hind legs & shout at them if you must - get MBUSA involved. This is a latent defect in the engine - they know it & there should be sufficient precedent by now that they do the repair FOC. Why should you pay for an expensive engine harness caused by a ****ty leaking sensor that is a known problem. I suspect with the Toyota recall disaster that your timing could not be better. I think there are a few nervous OEMs out there that know that they should have had major recalls years ago.

well, well, well... the plot thickens...
The MB official dealer checked for oil and found not to be enough to have my wiring harness replaced (plus parts). They did change the Camshaft Adjuster Solenoid for free but charged me for a bad thermostat (for the engine) and a bad O2 sensor... their price $950 (ouch!)

You got robbed! Did they fit the pigtale?
Did you authorise replacement of O2 sensor & thermostat? You could have replaced those yourself for a fraction of the cost - Damn stealers!!!!

ha! those jerks....
They broke a piece that needed to be removed from my break booster (whatever that is, the part is not in the U.S.), A week after and still is held in customs... me? I'm loving the loaner... for another week!
Still have to cough out the $$$ for the 2 things. oh well

EDIT : I should really read the thread before pasting crap in. I am wondering if I can get them to pay for my O2 sensors that I had replaced earlier in the year.

Happened to me too, only worked out better
A couple of weeks ago my check engine light came on in my 02 c230, I checked with an ODB scanner, it reported a low voltage on O2 sensor #1.
Yesterday I go to the dealer for Service A, an alignment, and get the O2 sensor replaced. Dropped the car off today, and in the afternoon the service manager calls me, the O2 sensor did not fail, the ECU was shorted with oil which leaked from the cam solenoid an ran down a wiring harness. Estimated cost $3000 to replace solenoid, harness, and ECU, cost to me, ZERO.
I almost went to an independent shop, I'm glad I didn't.

Therm and 02 both tie to the harness, and likely were filled with oil,
which is why they needed replacement.
Them saying it didn't have enough oil to be considered for the recall is criminal.
I'd write a letter to HQ, and threaten the dealer with a suit.
You need a regional tech rep to get involved.

Sorry to revive this thread but I recently I got a CEL and got P0244 and cleared it. Came back after 3 weeks, cleared it again and of course, came back. I wonder if this is related with what they did with my car. I'm fixing to go ape**** with my dealership. Any ideas?

P0244 = Turbocharger Wastegate Solenoid A Range/Performance
This could well be caused by oil in the engine harness. Go and cause merry hell with the dealer.

Someone around here managed to remove the entire wiring harness themselves, soak it in
solvent or soapy water I forget, let it dry thoughly, and then reinstalled.
Herr Krantz I think? It took quite a few hours, but not entirely impossible to DIY.
Too bad you hadn't been paying attention to all the threads where you would have known to get the
cable dongle that prevents the harness from getting oil soaked.
I got lucky, a dealer just installed it for me along with the cam sensor.
If you have had you vehicle in for service, and they failed to
follow the campaign, I wonder if you might have a case for neglect?

Just came back from the dealership (stealership, if u may)... I bought a halfass car wash, a diet coke and 2 mini M&Ms for $110.
... oh, and a piece of paper stating that I have to pay $1350 plus tax to get my POS fixed
Needless to say I am not doing it but thank you dealership for ruining my life with your explanations....
So they said that due to age the Recirculating Air Flap Accuator (this is their spelling) needed replacement (because?)... they told me that those components fail with age... whatever! Apparently "...it has nothing (NOTHING) to do with the campaign and I should be relying on the internetz to diagnose my car" (smartly quoting the SA)
(They gave me a different code... P203A, not P0244, no idea why)
Anyway, here's the list of goodies
855.00 for the part (which they didn't list) + 4.5 hours to replace it
855+495 = 1350
I need a lawyer or a new car...
