Doesn't the 2002 have the M111 engine? I thought that recall was for the M271 1.8 Liter.

We received a call from the dealer as well. Since they never call about any other recalls or TSB's, I thought it was probably pretty important, so I brought the car right in. Got it back 2 days later (my schedule). Seems o.k. I don't notice anything different.

Had mine done under the recall a month ago (yes, it's an M111).

I had started up a thread at the time, and at the time, no one else had received it.

Driving newer c class loaners makes me appreciate my car. The girly interior is too much for me.

WHAT?

I'm close to 200k on my motor and no issues.

Anyone know what this recall is about?

when they gave you the invoice, what procedures did they list? I think they can do the cam without taking off the head, but certainly they take off the timing chain.

If you can, I'd appreciate knowing what work procedures they list.

Ed

Post Script - Called up Fletcher Jones, yep they have a recall. However, she didn't mention much about what in particular they are looking at. I'm honestly a bit clueless about whats up.

Made an apt for Monday, and yep I get a loaner car.

Is it only on M111 engines?

I don't know, but I'll ask when I go in.

I did find a post where someone mentions that it is the magnet, cover and wiring. I remember getting something like this done some time back. But when I called the SA told me my car needed to be done.

Damn, went through all of my records, finally find the info, and it's just as SPCL K said.

So at least I can confirm that what they posted is correct.

I would love to know how much the dealer charged MB to do the work. The number of hours box was blank, as was the total cost - everything was zero'd out. Oh well, at least I didn't have to pay!

Here we have a member with a chronic case of the leaks! Looks like diarrhoea!

https://mbworld.org/forums/c-class-w...limp-mode.html

Can somebody try & get hold of a copy of the TSB/recall & scan it in for overseas members. Benz will never do a recall outside the US & a TSB will help some of our non US members get Benz to fix their time bomb if they can show precedent.

I'd sure try to get it done. After all, the car was built in Germany, regardless of where it ended up!

So, how do I do it? Is there any paper I have to bring or they will know everything? What if they refuse, or give me some reason not to do it...

My car has 214000km on it and I'm the third owner, that could turn them off.

Just to make sure, is it for M111?

C230k coupe 500sec convertible
guys I had this done last week, it is just the cam sensor and a pigtail to keep the oil from getting to your wiring harness, NOT the camshaft............There is also a campaign to reseal the thermostat housing because it leaks (mine was doing it) 200,500 miles and going strong.

and i posted pics of this when i had to do this myself on my wife's c230 M111 on another thread

if by m111 u mean the stock motor that came with the '02 C-230K coupe, then yes, they called me and covered mine. See my earlier posting for the list of what they changed.

Hope this helps,

HeirKranz or anybody else who had this addressed...Can you post the recall/campaign number for the THERMOSTAT HOUSING LEAK? I called my SA and she said nothing it exists. My thermostat housing is leaking, giving low coolant errors and thermostat regulating temp CELs.

I'm sick of forking up the $ and time to make these repairs myself and then later have recalls surface (as did with the camshaft solenoid/pigtail catastrophe).
