02 C230 coupe mod options

Hi Guys,

I am desperately looking for more out of my C coupe. I have done the ASP pulleys, NGK plugs and K&N drop-in. What else is there? Is there any kind of software (chip) that will help or work with the pulleys? I saw a couple of old posts that mentioned about software being developed to work with the pulley. Are there any exhaust modifications that do anything? Headers. hi-flo cat (or delete) muffler. If so, please point me in the right direction (brands/links).

If I can get a little more out of her, I'd be looking at doing suspension next. I assume H&R springs would cause the stock shocks to wear out very quickly. Please correct me if I am wrong. Otherwise the options would be H&R springs with Bilstein sport shocks or H&R coilovers.

I know there are a lot of old posts asking these questions, but I can not seem to find anything current.

Thanks in advance!

The M111 engine is a motor that runs lean. So really, you are at the end of the rope. You can port your supercharger. One of the members here removed the screens on the MAF. I recall someone changed the gear ratio in the differential.

You can get a H&R cupkit for the suspension.

My first recommendation would be thicker sways; either Eibachs, H&Rs, or a combination of Eibach front with H&R rear (mixing and matching gives thickest bar combo).

Once there, think about a Magnaflow cat or other universal. Supersprint doesn't make their 02 C230 headers anymore, so you'd have to pick up a used one if possible. Mufflers seem to be all sound without any hp pickup.

I really haven't seen much recently here about chipping; I've had mine done by Upsolute before and after the pulley, and can't really say much about it; yielded small hp before the pulley, and didn't do dynos after the re-chipping after the pulley installed, but butt dyno said no big shakes.

Once you're there, you're pretty much at the limits that I've seen here. How big/heavy are your aftermarket rims? If they are either over 18 lbs or larger than 18", dump them for something lighter/smaller; that will help your performance more than the other stuff, in all likelihood.

Suspension is dependent on your $$ / flexibility requirements. I've got an Eibach combo, but many others here like the ability to exactly determine how much they want their bumpers to scrape, and get coilovers, ususally from Tein or KW. But yes, changing the OEM setup would just suck all around.

What did you get from the supercharger porting?

I am assuming removing the screens on the MAF would increase air flow?

Also, what about removing the muffler on the supercharger. I read a couple of posts about that. Does that increase power, or just increase sound?

Remove the MAF screens and throttle body screens.
Find info on that in the R170 forum.

Also remove the Supercharger Muffler, I posted detailed info on that with pics somewhere,
here or benzworld.

Here is the info on the MAF screen

It'll run like crap till the ECU adjusts to the intake being unplugged. 5 minutes or so.
You'll be amazed, I'd say the 2 combined adds 10-15 HP at peak.

Thanks!

I'll look into trying that this weekend.

What do you find your headers do for you? Also, what do you have for an exhaust on it?

Thanks!

Hard to say what the headers do exactly since I've had it on now for over
2 years. Some say nothing.
It definately increased the noise level.

I went in this order,
1. Remus Muffler (used)
2. Header
3. Cat got blown out (possibly due to header?)
replaced with free flow cat.
4. The thing was raspy as hell, found a 'rasp eliminator'
ie a resonator and had it welded on, now it sounds good to me.

But taking out the SC muffler, and MAF screens costs nothing.
You WILL notice a difference, especially in the higher rpm's, it's not starving for air! I was amazed at the difference.
You could change the intake itself ad nauseum but without removing these
useless obstructions, you won't get anything.

Also, you will note the MAF isn't sealed very well.
Clean it, then seal it... I just wrapped it with electric tape and used
an oring from the hardware store to get it tight!
Increasing boost don't do squat if it's leaking at the MAF.

All these things will increase power with your existing setup and make the engine sound mean!

The wheels are 18". fronts are 8" rears are 9 1/2". I can't seem to find a weight for them online though.

What does your Eibach combo consist of?

Ha, this is probably old, but 1st time I've seen it.
A C-Coupe with a 6.1L V8 Brabus motor....426 HP.
Is that what you were looking for?

Ahhh! I'm familiar with coilovers, just couldn't put two and two together on the abbreviation. I'm looking at the H&R cup kit, pretty nice price.

Hey guys. Well...Mods to a C-230 coupe. I'd been looking for like three years to figure out where to head. This is what I ended up with:

A T4/T04E turbo swap, removed Supercharger
Custom Exhaust from turbo-back
Eibach Pro-System Plus
18" ADR Rims
Godspeed Front Mount Intercooler
Custom Intercooler Piping
Blitz Electronics
Short Shifter (custom)
Momo Interior upgrades
Nitrous (NX Wet Kit and an extra Fuel Nozzle for enrichment)
Custom Cold-Air Intake

There's loads more we have done to my ride, but that is the main pointers. I am looking for something else to control fuel and spark. I was actually looking into the compatibility of Mitsubishi's 4G63 and the M111. I have a ton more research to do before using parts from the Mitsu, but I think it may be possible.

I posted a few pictures in the photo gallery already. Take a peek. Yes, the AEM EMS will work with the Mercedes, however, after dealing with several Haltech representatives, they offer the Platinum 1000 and Sprint 500, both are capable of handling what I am looking for in the Benz. I am working on figuring out other things like injectors/compatibility and an upgraded fuel pump. I also would like to take it into the body shop to have the lines straightened out a bit more as I did a C230 AMG Sedan Front End Conversion on it as well.

Yeah I did have it on eBay for a while. I needed some money to pay for some remodeling on my house and some more cash for the business. I had a few offers on it, but nothing that really persuaded me to sell it to anyone. Oh yeah, it also has a C36 rear end and axles in it (for those who were concerned in other threads about the diff. not holding up, it doesn't) the C230 rear end didn't last long, especially after working on drifting it...

It is boosting between .40-.60 hkPa. I have the Blitz SBC boost controller in it, I love it. Let's me play around with boost levels and how the fuel responds to the upped CFMs that come out. Let me know if you have any questions.
