Best setup to avoid speeding tickets?
I just got a speeding ticket and my passport 9500ix didn't go off. The cop was using laser. Should I get a different radar detector and add a laser jammer? What is the best method to avoid speeding tickets. In this case I wasn't trying to speed, just lost track of how fast I was going on a deserted road.

I have a passport 9500 ix as well. However, I don't fully trust the radar because sometimes, I can see cops clearly near but the radar does not detect at all. My buddy told me it's because if cops does not turn on his radar or use laser instead, then radar does not detect.
I'm wondering then what's the point to use a radar? Even cops does not use his device, they will pursue if I go faster than others. I've been thought about a laser device but it is illegal in Utah..
I'm always wondering how to avoid speeding tickets too. hm..

Cops have gotten smarter and are using point and click methods to nab speeders
by the time your radar goes off...hes gotten you. Best to travel in packs. Dont be in the front.
Cops arent leaving their radar/laser guns on anymore.
Its been awhile but Laser used to be limited in its application. Couldn't use it in the car, while driving, had to be a clear sunny day, couldn't use it in night or rain, and cops are usually positioned perpendicular to you when using laser. Dont know if that's changed now.
Laser/radar jammers are prob the best bet.

Any type of jammer (radar) or scrambler (laser) is illegal... And oddly that has nothing to do with the cops, its illegal based on FCC federal regulations, that cover all signal jammers and scramblers.

Laser jammers are legal in NYS.

I have to drive about 400 miles a week (mostly highway) and im using V1. Laser = im screwed but Radar I detect in plenty of time. I travel the same highway and know where the cops sit. I just dont speed in the laser areas. I know thats not the answer you are looking for but thats what i do.
btw. i like the v1 much better than the 9500xi. those arrows on the v1 are invaluable!!!!! and we dont have video radar or anything like that around hear. The v1 goes off alot but with the arrows, you can tell if its fake or not real quick (especially if the signal is coming from behind you)

I get a local traffic attorney to represent me in court, usually costs me between $50-$100 per written ticket and I have always gotten out of the tickets.
Currently I have 4 pending traffic violations, I will be in court next month with my attorney and will hopefully get these dismissed as well.
You can always ask for deferred from the judge as well.
There aren't many ways of getting away with a nice tag from a laser but, there are ways of getting out of the ticket.

I just picked up some Laser Veil. Check it out on YT. I'm going to try to get some LEO friends of friends to see if we can stage a little test to see if it is really effective. I also started a thread about it recently.

The 9500ix should pick up lasers... I got pulled over but the 9500ix alerted me so I knew to hit my brakes instead of continuing to speed. You can consider it somewhat of a life savor at that point but the cop still reads your speed instantly and your speed won't decrease much with the braking in that time.
I think the best bet is 9500ix with laser jammers... that way you'll know when you're getting lasered, he won't be able to get your speed and you'll have time to slow down to an appropriate speed as you end up passing him. This stuff requires a lot of trial and error before you can use it confidently and know that nothing is going to catch you.

The Escort Passport 9500ci is a beaaaaaaaaaaast!!! I was driving up to on the 15 North (here in San Diego) to visit a local wheel company in Vista and I am going 90mph straight into a CHP officer shooting a laser gun at me. My Laser signal goes off, I press "mute" twice to turn off the shifters and notice the CHP officer looking at his gun almost like he was checking for a malfunction. Moral of the story...I didn't get a ticket.

1700 for a radar detector is just silly. As someone else stated I would just pay an attorney.

Aside from that no radar detector is going to save you if you if your doing 160+ and the little buzzer goes off and even if its jammed you think a cop
is just gonna sit there and sulk as you do a fly by at 160. The only thing keeping you from jail at that point is staying on the gas and hope he doesnt catch you.

I have a 9500ci and it has saved me many times as well and I had a few similar experiences like Pertplus.
Nothing is bulletproof and using common sense will also help.
We all take risks by speeding and getting a few tickets here and there comes with the territory.
I am usually grateful if I am being pulled off at 90mph when I was at 120 10 mins ago or the day before.
