Racing ford lightning
Have any of you ran up against a lightning? My cousin has one with some work done. I've rode with him a couple times. It's pretty sick. Still working on breaking my car in before we line them up. Curious to see if anyone has any experience.

Lol shoulda done some homework. Quickly Googled and found his truck is 1100 pounds heavier then my car. And stock 380hp vs 451hp. He'd have to have it of work done!

The key is to run them 4-5 times. They heat soak like crazy and will pull hard for a couple runs, then fall on its face.

Running from a dig will be his best chance. A higher roll will play against his strengths.

I had a 2000 lightning when it was a year old. Awesome truck. Use to run neck and neck with LS1 f-bodies with them eventually pulling up top.
Bolted on lightnings can run deep into the 12's. If he has a KB blower swap, I would worry if you are stock.

2010 C63
Well i have raced a few lightnings in my 03 cobra and some of them were damn fast.
My cobra has 610 rwhp and on a roll race from like 20 mph's i am pretty sure my 2010 c63 p31 with a tune is slower than my cobra but gonna be hard to be sure.
From a dig i will never hook unless trac control is on and i do have NT-01 nittos and the car is lighter than the c63 to.
Like someone said earlier if you get a hold of one woth a kb or Whipple you might be surprised and looking at his tailgate more than you want.

ford svt's, and C63!!!
I own an 03 Lightning with a good list of mods including pullies for more boost, long-tube headers, and the game changer, "nitrous". Without the nitrous flowing on the lightning that's also wearing slicks with a high stall torque converter, it's usually a damn close race towards the end of the eighth mile, the Lightning gets it on outa the gate, the Mercedes gets it on later in the game, and often it's too late for a short eighth mile race, but of coarse with the Lightning using nitrous, it's all Lightning, all the way. Without nitrous and slicks, I'd guess the c would win 8 outa 10 runs in the eighth.
On a side note, without the Lightning using nitrous, but being on slicks, I think our C would either be really close or possibly pass the Lightning towards the end of the quarter. Me and my wife race these two vehicles against each other all the time at the eighth mile track, and unfortunately for the Mercedes, it's all lightning because of the way it launches and I'm always looking for that "one" great timeslip, so it's usually on nitrous. I would venture to guess your buddy's lightning isn't modded to the extent of our lightning, but don't be too excited no matter what the turnout comes to be, but by all means have a good time finding out and report back to us.
Oh btw, I used to own an 04 cobra and it was faster than our lightning wearing slicks and ingesting nitrous, the cobra was on drag radials and just running it's blower pullied to the moon.
