This could be a good find, or drain someone's account. $20k for cl65 is tempting....

So what about insurance on 65s? I've been with Progressive for 15+ years and they will cover a 600 or a 55 but no model of 65. My brother had that issue as well and he ended up with Amica (not a bad choice) but mainstream insurers like Geico or State Farm wouldn't even cover the car.
That was expected when the car was near the $100k mark but now that you can buy them for Honda Civic cash, how are they insured?

I just sold my 2005 cl600 sport pkg, Eurocharged tuned, linked, cl65 Oem rims, new tires, brakes, coils, plugs, serviced, clean 72kmiles for $18,000. How could you not take a chance on a 65 for $20k? For $3k, you've got a 4800lb 10sec car!!! If its still around in August, I'll check it out on the way to the beach....

No respect for the ol' 65. Less than 200 made and people could care less. Mean while, GNXs fetch $60-80k with half the power and 1500+ made. The Hellcats will have a production number around 3,000 and will be bought up to sit in garages with plastic bags on the seats and window stickers that will never come off. You'll never hear of those cars breaking 100k miles. One day the 65 cars are going to be so tough to get parts for, anything that's not interchangeable, will require sending in a core to be rebuilt. I'll worry about that then....

I've only had mine since October of last year and only put 5,000 miles on it, but can't think of anything I'd rather have for a DD. At the current price of these cars they are just awesome.

My brother's Supra (light single, just over 500 whp) was with Geico but when he checked while CL shopping they wouldn't do it. Just this year, a guy from the State Farm booth at the Atlanta Auto Show insisted they could save him money until he said he's got a CL65. They quickly said "Oooh, we don't cover those..." The 65 cars aren't even in the dropdown menu on Progressive's "quote a policy change" section of their website.
This probably won't be a limitation for me since I'm leaning toward an E55 when it's time to get another "fun" car. I'm over 40 and have a clean 10 yr driving record so insuring it won't be any more than my current "old man" Lincoln

Either coverage isn't allowed in your state, this is limited to only commercial vehicles or you don't meet the requirement to have this on your policy, but as you can see progressive def covers 65 AMG cars

I didn't disbelieve you! It's got be because you have a commercial policy. That's why I was asking for people to chime in through, because it's an interesting dilemma now that the cars are getting so cheap. You can buy them now for less than the sales tax amount when they were new!
Maybe 10 years ago or so, I wanted to buy a flatbed tow truck because there was one at a price I couldn't pass up. It was older but all the bed hydraulics were new. Why have a trailer when you can have a flatbed, right?
Progressive wouldn't cover it without being on a commercial policy. I wasn't going to tow any vehicles other than my own yet they would not cover it as a Ford F450 or whatever it was; I had to get a commercial policy if I wanted that truck. Needless to say I stuck with using a trailer.

You can eventually find an insurer for any car. It is just of who you are willing to work with on the deal and what you are willing to pay.

Same here, LM has covered my E55, 911TT, 135, CL65, and ML63 without any crazy rates or anything. I am married, over 25, have 0 tickets/accidents so maybe that does help some.

liberty mutual has a deal with mercedes and insures the cars very reasonably. i saved $200 a year on my 2004 cl600 over geico.
