Pictures of my S class
Hi,
I wanted to share a couple of pictures of my car, I like to keep it simple and low. (iphone picture)
Mods:
-22" XO Miami wrapped in 245/30 and 285/25 tires
-Adjustable Air Ride links
-Painted bumper reflector
-2010 LED tail light (on order)
Let me know what you guys think!

Thanks, it's lowered about 3'', I trimmed the piece inside the rear fenders and I rolled the front fenders, so this way I don't have rubbing issue.

What kit/parts did you use to lower it? I have an 08 and would like to lower it. Would it be possible using the Rentech lowering module?
Sorry for the stupid questions, just got my first Benz and am looking to start putting my personal touches on it.

5 star/spoke wheels look better with BBK ( big brake kit) IMO.
I live in New England ( boston). My car is s550 4matic with 22" Vellano (10 spokes) lowered by MB dealer with Star. I'm about to put back oem wheels for winter months now.
Your ride with 3" drop, you'd be buying tires very often due to camber issues.
I guess " pay to play". Welcome to MBworld.
Nice ride

Sorry OP no intention of high-jacking the zreat but
-Lowering links (these replace the original links between chassis-sensors and suspension fooling your suspension into thinking the car is too high so it lowers the struts). Cheapo fix.
-Renntech module : bit more expensive and -lowering with Star, you have to know someone who knows what their doing !
The three above mentioned methods have the disadvantage that its a fixed setting .
LoMo as well as Lorinser make modules with which you can set height at wish.
Good luck !

I lowered it a bit more last weekend, I wanted the wheel to be flush with the fender. With the LED tail light also installed, now I'm fully happy with the way she looks. Here's a pic.

MBWorld Fanatic!
Yeah, I dropped my W220 very slightly on adjustable links and even on the stock 18" wheels there was a big degradation in ride quality. It also screws with the alignment. In my instance, there was also a new shudder that pulsed through the drive train every ten seconds or so and was annoying as hell. Not sure how the drop would have done that but it cleared up as soon as the original ride height was restored.
While I generally like the look of a dropped 221, to my eye this W221 looks a bit cartoonish. The wheel style is nice but combined with the lower profile sidewall, the larger diameter wheel and the drop it gives the impression that an S550 body was fitted over a little monster truck chassis.
To me, it needs a bit more sidewall, and the tops of the fenders should get very close but not encroach over the tops of the wheel assemblies.
Then again, I'm an old fart.
