Windshield
Just encountered a rock hitting my windshield. It is right in the center of drivers view with spikes already.I haven't made the call to insurance yet. Is it better to get repair or a whole new windshield.
Thanks all,

I just repaired mines through comprehensive insurance and a small deductible. My windshield would have been very expensive due to me having nightvision. I hope this helps.
If it's just a chip I would try to get it repaired 1st before it spreads.

Sorry that happened.
Usually they say if the damage is smaller than a dollar bill - it's fixable. Fix it fast if you're going that route because those cracks will spread across the windshield fast. We use our S600 for coast to coast driving and one advantage to these aging cars are the prices for low comp deductibles. I changed mine from the default $500 to $50 and it raised my rate by $14/6 mos. Bargain.

Wil and Its thanx for responding. USAA (zero deductible glass claim) gave me the choice. They will be replacing the windshield Wednesday. I will be watching like hawk! The last one I had replaced (Diff Car) encountered problems. The tech cut things he wasn't supposed to.

Well here we go again. Just had Windshield replaced and water sensing doesn't work. So now I have to go to Safelite Shop to let them check it out, because i dont trust another tech to come to my house and get it right.

Not a huge fan of Safelite, sometimes you get the right tech and sometimes you get the one who does a lot of Civic windshields. Most of the dealers do not do their own glass work and will find a local indy they can use to sub out windshields and such. You might try asking your dealer, you know, wear something flimsy and smile a lot and see if they warm up to you.
I have a great indy glass shop here in Phoenix that has been A+ for me and my Benzos, the owner did the first windshield on my S550 and we had a nice chat about the S63 he used to have.
