2014 E350 4Matic; 2016 GL350 Bluetec; 2005 F430 Spider
Ordered a C300, it came in but I'm not looking forward to it.

I had a 2010 E550 4-Matic (loved it but it bent rims too easy in NYC area), 2013 E350 4-Matic, and currently have a 2014 E350 4-Matic. I loved the E Class but I did not want to get the new 2017 E300 4-Matic 4 cylinder model. So I decided to order a 2017 C300 4-Matic to hold me over until the new E is available with a 6 cylinder. I drive about 18,000 miles per year so I will do a 16,000 miler per year lease for 24 months and do the pull ahead in 19-21 months.

I ordered my C with luxury, Garmin, P1 (blind spot, back up camera, keyless go and Sirius), rear sunshade, heated steering wheel, black on black with MB Tex. I did not get that Panorama roof or COMAND or upgraded sound or lights. I wanted to keep MSRP down as I really do not want the car, it is just a place holder in my mind.

I drive a lot and love the dual sun visors of the E and the fact that the E's big visor slides to cover the gap (the C does not). I like a sunroof so i can push the button up and keep it vented. C does not have a sunroof option (crazy), I hate Panorama top as you cannot get 100% away from the sunlight. My car is going to have a metal roof. I also like LED lights but my C has regular halogen's (not very cool). My base 2014 E350 came with LED low beams as a standard option.

Basically, I feel like I'm dreading getting the new car. I feel like I'm taking a big step down, but Mercedes does not have an E that is suitable and comparable to what i have now and what I'm used to.

Am I the only one that has these thoughts about the current E and C models?

Well, you kind of special-ordered a stripper. I wouldn't be excited about it either. It's going to be like two years in a service loaner while you miss your E. Have you driven the new E? I haven't but some guys on the S board have and they liked the car. I guess the new tranny keeps the T4 in the sweet spot. If you're going to "slum" it for a couple years in the C, get a nice E now and make the 6 cyl E your next one.

Your logic is not holding to criteria. Your not willing to lease a 2017 e300 cause its a 4 cylinder car, and not a 6 cylinder . But your willing to lease a 2017 c300 that is a 4 cylinder. looks like your going two steps back instead of one. Seems like your decision is going against your top rank priority (6 cylinder). As-well, your down sizing from an E to a C. I personally believe engine size should be somewhat irrelevant in your decision when it comes to a mid size car, but I understand some people want a better performance vehicle, rather than better MPGs. I would of personally just leased a CPO E class 2015 or 2016.

Well, it is the same 4 cylinder in size and power output. But the C is smaller and lighter. I drove both and even with the 9 speed in the E, I still though the C was more powerful at passing and entering highways, etc. I care about performance more than gas mpg. Leasing a used MB is not an option and buying is riskier and can by more expensive as you have to pay sales tax on the car versus just tax on the payment.

I am not locked in to this car. I can walk if I want. Problem is I cannot find anything better to walk to. I read the E class board and many people are not happy with the 4 cylinder in the E and I never see the new E's on the road.

I drive from CT to NYC daily and to long island also so my cars get beat up and high mileage. I need short forgiving leases with pull ahead programs. This is why I don't go with BMW and their long non-forgiving leases and infrequent pull ahead programs.

I have thought about a CLS400 but those wheels will get sidewall bubbles and I will certainly bend the rims on the FDR and other roads in the winter. Wheel and Tire is like $2000 and is not residulizatable so it kills the payments. Mercedes made a huge mistake not putting a 6 in the E, just insane.

Have you checked or tested drove any of the SUVs ? The GLE suppose to be the e class version for the SUV line. I personally like the coupe version cause it looks close to the bmw x6

I wouldn't look forward to driving a stripper C Class 4 banger either.

I personally love the panoramic roof on the C Class. I admit at first it took a little getting used to (compared to your basic moon roof on other vehicles), but now anything else seems too small. I also have no issues with the pano shade either...blocks enough light for me.

Why not keep your current car and get an E43 early next year?

I don't like SUV as a daily driver and my garage charges $10-15 dollars more per day to park an suv than a sedan. Silly rule. We had a 2015 ML we just got rid of for our GL.

So I went to the dealer today to work out the number on the car today. 24 months, 16k per year, zero down, with sales tax (6.35%) in the payments came to $602 per month with 3 services included. Was not impressed with the price. The dealer told me to wait until next month in hopes there is trunk money on it to get payment down. Way too much money for a car I don't love. My wife is angry. We are now also looking at 2014 certified pre-owned E class cars to hold us over since mine is too rough and has too many miles on it to buy.

Why do you guys call this car a stripper? It has Sirius, Keyless go, Garmin Navigation, blindspot sensor, rear sunshade, heated steering wheel, and back up camera. What is the car missing that it should have?

These. Some people don't like the pano roof because of headroom issues though. You should've either gotten the E or the C43 in my opinion.

You ordered this car, and paid a deposit to get it built, without agreeing on terms or price? The dealer not only is ok with the possibility of getting stuck with a lux car but is actually encouraging you to hold out for a better price? Sorry, none of this makes any sense.
