RE: AMG E55 Running Reports
In an effort to revitalize this forum...how do you feel about E55 Running reports? I would start categories for 75k, 100k, 125k, 150k and so on...this would allow members to chronicle any issues they experienced between intervals and also describe service done at each interval. It would give real world experience and help with expected service as you approach the next interval. Good idea or no? Thanks

I posted this in another thread a while ago. It includes most of the things I've had to do on the car aside from a few instances when I swapped wheels, swapped a pair of Bilsteins for good used ones, etc. Just over 170k now and really no big issues overall. The only time I've seen a check engine light was when the MAF went bad and the car was turning off at stop signs.

They cracked twice. The first time I got them rewelded and under one year later they cracked again and I ditched them. It was actually over $1200 because after they cracked the first time, I got them rewelded and the flange milled flat... the cost was $200+ for that fix. I got sick of removing/ reinstalling them and buying new gaskets every time.

seems like there R no tuning companies making any good headers for classic AMG's anymore?
are all Kleeman headers made in China nowadays?
that must be very bad for component quality using low grade material to save a buck manufactoring them over there?

well... I wouldn't judge the entire industry on AMS headers. They're not in the same league as Kleemann's, no matter where they're made, and you won't find many complaints about them here - besides their cost.

What brand and offset are the wheels? Those are exactly what I want but thought about 19 in instead of the 18s I have now. Someone said 20s are too rough. Also where did you purchase rims? Thanks

The fitment is for the car so they do not rub whatsoever. 10.5 in wide in the rear, 9in. in the front. I got them from a forum member, but selling them if you're interested.

Sure. How much? Any curb rash? What tires and how much tread left? Can you put in sport two with no rub? I'm actually planning on pulling the trigger on some this week. Can you send me some close ups?
