Are Bi-Turbo Powered V6s Really Worthy of the AMG Badge?

AMG Test

Undoubtedly, one of the biggest discussions in the car world among purists is the talk of turbo-powered V6 engines vs V8s — and all the debates that come with it.

Mercedes-Benz has certainly found itself at the center of that debate with their AMG Sport line, which features models equipped with a 3-liter V6 bi-turbo unit instead of the V8s and occasional V12s that have usually powered the higher-performance models over the years.

As would be expected, the move has had its fair share of criticism. And Mercedes itself seems to have tried to distance itself a bit from the idea by dropping the Sport line name and simply branding the V6 turbo models as AMGs.

The move, however, has done little to squash the concerns among purists over whether the V6 turbo-powered Mercedes models are worthy of the nameplate. Well, the video below, originally posted by BerlinTomek, attempts to address the issue by pitting a couple of V8 and V6 AMG models against each other in a sound and acceleration test.

Give it a watch, and let us know what you think.
