Spy Shots: 2014 AMG A-Class?

The A-Class is Mercedes new baby coupe, but that doesn’t mean its expempt from getting a souped up, AMG version. That’s what we imagine this fully camouflaged A-class hatch is, considering the base model has already been revealed to the public.

All that leaves is the possibility of an AMG model. Frankly, a hotted up small car from Mercedes would be a complete departure from their typical behavior. The last time they tried something similar was with the poorly received C230 compressor. Though admittedly that car was plagued with a slew of problems, in addition to being slow and ugly. The A-Class won’t be facing those problems if the rumor mill is to be believed.

Times have changed since C230 and small, fast cars have become more popular. Unlike that car, however, the A-Class sits on a front wheel drive platform. If anything, it’ll likely be an AWD affair similar to the configuration Audi uses in their S3. They’ll need it if they plan on making more than 300 hp.

We can’t help get excited at the thought of a hot hatch from Mercedes. This is of course assuming that it makes it’s way to the states, and let’s be honest, that’s probably not going to happen. Still we’d love to see the A-Class turn the small car world on it’s head.
