Modified E63 S AMG Takes on GT-R, Lambo, Ferrari & More

When it comes to modified cars, what’s faster; a big horsepower advantage, or a good driver?

Runway drags are becoming ever popular all across Europe. Car afficianados from across the entire continent flock to airports and show off their speed machines. Modified cars of all types show up, especially high dollar exotics, but one that regularly puts up a hard-to-beat competition is the E63s AMG. Lighting quick right off the showroom floor, but people can’t leave well enough alone, and so here we have an 800 horsepower E63s found racing at the GTC Rally drag event. Upgraded ECU tuning and E85 fuel are the favorites of tuners to get this much power.

Horsepower that high isn’t an impossible task these days. In fact, it is somewhat becoming the new norm. Combined with all-wheel-drive and launch control, these cars turn into the ultimate consistent drag strip weapon, especially from a dig. That’s proven by a number of races in this video, especially one particular yellow Ferrari.

Falling asleep at the light, the 458 driver suddenly finds a white AMG a couple hundred feet ahead. But as the saying goes “you win some you lose some.” In the case of the E63s, an Audi wagon was dealt with easily, as was a CLS AMG as well. But there was one car that just kept getting away.

Not all races were an easy win, however, even with 800 horsepower. This particular Nissan GT-R with a 400 horsepower advantage showed the AMG what 1200 ponies can do with launch control and all-wheel-drive as well. Truth be told though, it was a close race between the two on all three of their runs together, and they had the important skill set of reaction time. Though personally, we would have rather seen a pro tree light system to really challenge the drivers.
