Mercedes Sprinter Van

Comfy living quarters and full array of outdoor adventure gear make this Mercedes Sprinter van ready for action.

The idea of converting vehicles to self-contained homes is nothing new, of course. Hippies were turning VW buses into living spaces decades ago. But today, downsizing your living quarters and living off the grid are once again back in fashion. And unlike the cramped confines of those old buses, today’s vehicles offer up loads of space for all your gear. Vehicles like the Mercedes Sprinter van, which has become an incredibly popular vessel for campers and C-suite execs alike.

But a couple named Andre and Marissa, who run a blog called Joyful Vans, wanted to take things a step further. Thus, they converted their Mercedes Sprinter into something they could live out of while also using it on countless adventures. The end result of those efforts is a tiny home on wheels they call Bluebird, and it’s rather impressive.

To ensure they had power even out in the middle of nowhere, the couple fitted their van with solar panels connected to a Yeti 1250 generator. But it’s also surprisingly comfortable on the inside, with a full queen bed, bathroom, and kitchen. Heck, the ceiling of the van is even covered in reclaimed wood, just like something you’d see on virtually any HGTV show these days.

Clever storage solutions abound, including room for things like bikes, kayaks, and skis. You’ll find equipment for virtually any sort of outdoor activity, from rock climbing to rafting. It’s truly an ingenious use of space, but it also appears that the couple is ready to move on to another build. In fact, they’re selling their special little Mercedes Sprinter for a cool $180,000. And with only 9,000 miles on the odometer, it’s surely ready for many more memorable adventures!
