Amazing work. I've got a few questions if you wouldn't mind answering?
1. I see you've used a w211 rack. How did you set it up to avoid bump steer and for correct ackermann?
2. Have you modified the steering arms? If so, how?
3. Have you installed a bearing to support the steering column near the firewall?
4. Have you got the engine sitting totally level, or is it angled down a couple of degrees towards the rear end?
5. Is the engine situated optimally for balance, or do you think it needs to go back further?

We have not done an alignment yet. The steering arms are a frankenstein mix of W210 inner arms and 190e outer arms.
The 190e outer arms were cut in half, shortened, drilled and threaded from M12 to M14. The w210 inner arms were shortened and threaded so the 190e outer arms could screw onto them.
Maybe the pics will tell you more than my words But unfortunately I did not take any pics of the final outcome - the steering arms are much shorter now, than on the pics you can see below.
I haven't installed a bearing in the firewall for the steering column. We'll see if it's necessary when I finally get to drive the car.
The engine is level and as far back as possible - in fact it's so far back, that I cannot fit the stock air intake that goes into throttle body.
I had use a silicone 90* hose and cut the stock intake. In the future I will probably cut into the firewall to make room for the OEM air intake.
My time in the garage is limited so the progress is slow but the wing is now mounted. Fits great, just the trunk is a bit heavy now - gotta watch your fingers
The rear bumper, sideskirt and door trims were mounted too. I also checked how my NOS Momo Corse exhaust tip will look - it's a perfect fit for this bumper.
I like it much more than the oval EVO2 exhaust tip.
I also replaced the old ugly coolant reservoir for a new. Much better.
The stock ECU was sent to be flashed and coded - I am hoping to have it back before the end of the year.
Nice.
You probably don't want to hear this but it looks like you're going to suffer heavily from bump steer because your rack is too wide and in the wrong position. This is what makes a rack conversion so difficult on this car.

I am aware the rack is too wide. Why do you say it's in the wrong position?Take into account that the car will be lowered another 6-8cm in the front.
It's all trial and error. I will see how it works, as I haven't seen any other steering rack conversion done on an 190e - just the W210.
The old rack&pinion was a no-go for this project.
The 190 got a reflashed ML55 ECU so it went finally for some wiring work. Can't wait to hear it run after such a long time.
Got some new wheels to build up my motivation. Always liked these and a deal came up I couldn't pass up.
Rotiform LAS-R 18" 8,5+9,5 ET30
cool build for sure. one of my customers is doing something similar except he shoved in a m113k and did a full interior swap from a w211 e55.
believe he is working on the wide body kit right now
No cutting, just a few bangs on the secondary firewall to move it away from the coilpack.
To be honest, looking at the engine bay now, a lof of the issues were caused by the fact that I wanted the engine to sit as close to the firewall as possible.
If I moved it a little to the front it would not be an issue. But we have plenty of space to service the engine now.

Thnaks. M113k is sick but an overkill for me - N/A M113 power is enough for me. As for the interior, I prefer the 190e interior.
Haven't posted for a long time because none of the previous photos were loading so I thought the forum was dead.
The car is now painted and fitted with the evo2 kit. Got a new stainless steel valve-controlled exhaust, a new Recaro Spectrum interior and Airlift 3P suspension.
Got a new discreet license plate as well. We still have a lot to do, but it looks alright.
The Rotiform wheels are just temporary. Got a new set of wheels ordered - no shortcuts this time.
BTW the W211 steering has to go - I will try an e36 steering rack as I heard it's narrower and works better.

No, I am trying to keep the W210 rack for now. It's not the perfect solution but it will do for now.
The e36 rack won't work with a V8 swap probably - it's been only done in a R6 engine swap.
I've seen people were able to retain the original steering box in a V8 190.
One MB tech used a W124 E500 steering box - you can check out his youtube vid:
