The fitting that is bolted to the intake manifold (next to the rubber Y) has 2 bolts securing it.
The upper bolt is clearly an allen key while I am not sure on what the lower one is.
I know how tight that area is on my car so just wondering what tools are needed.
Thanks

Got mine today and all I can say is OMG.
It is easy to see why this is over $500. The engineering and build quality is faultless.
It is also easy to see how it installs with all the pieces infront of you.
Can't wait to get this on the car and see what happens
Thanks

Nice Piece!
I have seen and used different catch cans for Chevy and the latest Chrysler engines. They all spit a ton of oil from the crankcase into the intake tract. Go look up some of the Corvette and Chrysler forums and check out how much bypass heavies enter the intake tract. The slightest bit of oil will cause detonation and over time those light and heavy droplets will build up on the piston tops. That alone will make you more prone to detonation.
I havent perfomed it yet but now that Weistec has shown the throttle body it would be beneficial to spray the intake(engine running and someone helping keep it revved up) with throttle body cleaner then install this beautiful well made piece. This will clean the manifold runners and any film at the intake valve.
The price for this machined piece with the fittings and pieces as shown is well worth it. Especially since they have done the homework to figure out and measure what is required to install this system.
Of course it has to be emptied about every 3-5k miles.

Ordered mine today from MHP so we'll see how easy and well it works. From what I've been told the quality from Weistec is very good. Will be interesting to see how much oil this thing will catch under extreme racing conditions. I will take pictures of the install and give you all some follow up data.

Not fully relevant in the C63 section, but the ML section doesn't have much of a pulse . .
I installed the oil / air separator today into my ML63.
This is a complete pain the *** job on an ML, as this does not fit like in a C63. The back of the motor has panelling draped over the top of it.
So what I did was get some extra long line from a high pressure hose specialist, and run it to the front of the engine bay (this is the only spot I can see that can be utilised in an ML)
Was nearly a 3 hr install as I have a Renntech intake and this had to come off (means stripping the rear panelling)
I have to say that this thing works!
Its a 32 C day here and really humid (about 90 F) and I can only make the car ping if im really trying, like full throttle up a hill in first. This is a massive improvement on before as it would ping easily around 4000 rpm.
For some reason the throttle is sharper and the exhaust seems deeper? Dont know if the timing is now back in check? No idea. I'm still going for another carbon clean shortly and since I now have this separator, shouldnt have to do it again.
Very happy with it, except for the install which I basically arranged myself. Weistec need to let people with ML's know this isn't straight forward.

schmick325, great to hear you results. We designed the separator to be very versatile in installation to allow variation in chassis or existing modifications, such as your air boxes. We will revise the amount of line shipped out for MLs to account for the engine being tucked back in the firewall. Our testing shows you will continue to see better results as the left over oil in your manifold is consumed and all new oil will be captured by the oil separator.

Sounds good. Will be interesting to see what happens as it's driven more and more.
I had to modify the black mount that screws onto the separator as well.
I play around with cars alot so it's no big deal.
It's going to the dealership on Friday for some new rear shocks to be fitted and a service. Be interesting to see if they say anything

I received mine today from MHP and will be doing the install this weekend or the first of next week so I can give you an update. The quality from Weistec is excellent. I think the install should be very straight forward.

Dads C63, Thank you very much for the compliments. Let us know how it goes for you at the track!

It was very tough to choose a location that would work well not only on a naturally aspirated car, but a supercharged car as well. Because, we add an intercooler recovery tank to the car when supercharging, it makes very tight to fit anything extra under the hood. It is a tight fit, however it does fit very well.

Schmick325 we're glad to see positive results! It's great to see the Oil/Air Separator doing it's job protecting the engine. Thanks for the good pictures.

Thumbs up to Weistec for a well made piece.
Install may have to wait until next week, after the holidays.
Thanks,
Mike

so what exactly are you supposed to do after this is installed?
it kind of looks like the bottom part screws off... is that where the oil goes? and you empty it out and screw it back in?
is this done every oil change?
and someone suggested spraying something and cleaning the intake during the first install... is this recommended by weistec?
