Interesting that it will not be a limited build, like the previous Pro.

2017 c63s drop top
RBR just did a video on it. It's not any lighter, a little more power, more cooling, CCB's as standard.

Here's the promo vid. Exhaust sounds a bit flappy. Is that the sound even on the non-pro?

I am still baffled by the two radiators in the wheel arches. Are these in addition to the center radiator? If so, does that mean the regular GT55 and GT63 just rely on a center radiator?

Don't all gen 1 GTs have additional cooling in that area?

The key reasons I purchased my GTR Pro were limited production (significantly less than even the BlackSeries that came out the following year), meaningful weight and aerodynamic improvements, and significantly better track times than the GTR model.
Based on the write up, the new one lacks some of the attractive qualities of the original one. Will be interesting to see the comparable track times…if Mercedes doesn’t test it at the Ring, that will speak volumes. Or if they test it, but use the Cup tires on the 2021 Balck Series which are worth 8-10 seconds at the ring over the Cup tires that came stock on the 2020GTR Pro.
The numbers won’t lie and looking forward to seeing the weight savings as well.

I finally got a chance to study a second gen GT at a dealership. I don’t hate it. I just wish it was 750 lbs lighter.

My AMG SL63 has radiators there also. I believe they are for the turbo chargers.

You're probably right. So the wheel well is quite stacked then. Wish there's a tech sheet somewhere.

AMG GT63
Marketing, marketing, marketing.... I think that the difference with the GT63 is only in the front bumper and more expensive options in the base (carbon- ceramic brakes, aerodynamic package, etc.). I wouldn't be surprised if in fact it turns out that the engine has the same power...

One thing for sure: due to the weight, be prepared to spend a large amount on tyres and brakes +/- brake cooling ducts if not OEM.

You can find info in the link on the GT-S cooling system including a diagram of all the 7 air to fluid radiators in the front of the car. There are also two fluid to air coolers for the charged air and two fluid to fluid coolers for the transaxle.

I have not seen cooling diagrams for any other models than the GT-S.

Cayennes have intercoolers in the lower outboard fascia openings. Primary engine coolant radiator (and condensor) are in the usual center position.

So now it makes the same hp/torque as the E63s while weighing 100-200 less than the sedan.

It‘ll be interesting to see any Nurburgring time, perhaps by Christian Gebhardt who ran the first great GTR lap time.

I strongly suspect that given the hp and AWD nature of the car it will turn some very fast lap times; the question remains how many ‘hot’ laps can you run before the tyres cry ‘Uncle’? There will have to be a case for a true racing slick that can handle the abuse even at a DE if you want to push the car’s, and your, limits; otherwise its a warm up lap; 2 hot laps; 2 cool down laps; 2 hot laps then pit.

Comes with Cup 2Rs --sweet!

But if you track like I do over 40 days per year get ready for spending money on tires. My 2 Corvette C8 Z06s that I track came with Cup 2Rs and get only 2 track days out of them--maybe three with a Tirerack cost of about $2600 a set. I hope the AMG Driving Academy (now AMG Experience) has these cars on the docket for COTA and Road Atlanta coming up this fall so I can drive either the new AMG GT 63 (hopefully the Pro as well) to see if I should buy a GT63 Pro. I have been participating in AMG Driving Academy Pro and Pro Plus classes for a number of years with the GTs and GTRs so I would like to see how the new platform stacks up!
