GT/C192/R192: New GT55, thoughts from a previous C63s owner
Yeah he's mistaken. Neither of us did a full axleback reconfiguration. We just literally replaced the mufflers with connecting pipes. Both of our setups have the original exhaust pipe with the valve still in place (on each side) and I had them replace my second one with a larger 3" pipe for added sound. Valves are less effective than before with the larger second pipe but still a bit quieter than with both pipes fully open. I still drive around with the valves fully open 95% of the time tho. Hope that helps.
At the shop now with the guy putting in just the EVM for now. Was talking with him again about potentially doing the muffler delete, and he’s thinking that while it would still retain the valve functionality, the valve closed would be a pretty small difference from open because the right exhaust pipe is essentially always open with the valve only controlling the left pipe. Is that picture he drew accurate of how it would look after doing the Y-pipe? He also mentioned that the Mercedes stock pipe that goes into the muffler (or Y-pipe if you delete it) is some weird EU measurement that’s not exactly 3 inch but close, so did you guys still have the Y-pipes and the ones after all be 3 inch?
Cool, may have him do this next time I'm there then. I have a better understanding of how it works now. To clarify, the left exhaust pipe (that has the valve) is the stock pipe that he didn't touch and its 2.5" diameter right? So for the right (non-valve) exhaust pipe, I could have him replace it with either a 2.5" or 3" diameter pipe?
I think so and now that I think about it I think my second one is also 2.5” (had it wrong in my original post on it). My y-split is 3”.
Different topic - anyone know if there’s a way to get the car to rev past 3-4k rpm in neutral? Tried taking a vid of the exhaust in park but it sounds lame because you can’t rev through the entire rpm band when not driving.

I know the secret with M and Porsche but its not allowed with AMG.
I have a silly question, I had a local shop that I have used in the past installed the Brabus Springs.
Is it possible that the installation is backwards, meaning, the front springs were installed in the rear and the rear in the front?

No that can't happen. The fronts are very different from the rear. Curious, what makes you think this happened?

no...might ask vic to measure his to compare since he has the same set up. The other thing is the new springs will likely settle a bit which might help. Did you happen to do the adjustable springs or fixed? If adjustable that you can adjust them yourself. The rears are super easy to adjust and the fronts are a little more of a pain. Keep in mind the car comes with some rake. I am not a fan of the rake so i tried to adjust what i could out of it.
Whoops as I posted vic is already on it.

I had their front lip and side skirts on my M8's and you cant beat the 250 buck per part price tag.
