Have a question for the people that have the RaceChip GTS chip installed @Vic55 @theprototype @neonflx :

I took it to an independent Mercedes shop (it's a very highly reviewed one in the Phoenix area), and after looking at the included instructions, they were a bit confused because the instructions were kind of generic and the installation for the AMG GT Coupe would be a bit different. They were saying they'd need about 8 hours to research the locations for the connections and install it all, so like a $1200 install. Do any of you have advice for where I can take it that wouldn't charge nearly as much and would have a better idea of how to install it?

 

It takes about 2 hrs the 1st time, 45 minutes to 1 hr once you know, I've done it a couple of times, one of the connectors is a ***** to get to but not impossible, get someone with small hands lol

its probably 1-2 hours tops up front but there will be shop tax aka a bump- tell them 3 hours.

 

So I tried to get the AMG experience discount even though my car is 10 months used and applied for a race weekend. Didn't work lol. Ended up canceling it because my wife won't let me spend the $5k needed for it

 

That's unfortunate. I have mine scheduled for the 24th at Road Atlanta. The dealership didn't inform me of the perk. I just stumbled upon it. I was looking at scheduling and luckily saw where I could enter my car info for the credit. I was prepared to pay so it definitely was a nice surprise. The least they could do for the check I wrote lol.

 

Another question for you three (and anyone else that has the RaceChip GTS5 black piggyback installed): Do any of you have a 2025 MY, and did you ever get a CEL thrown after the tune was hooked up? I’m getting DTC U0689 with the description “Lost communication with turbocharger/supercharger ‘B’ temperature sensor.” I’m going to reach out to RC but was curious if anyone else had a similar issue.

 

I have a 2024 but the engine and the electronics are the same. No CEL. You might have a faulty install if the RC is the culprit. Easiest way is to just uninstall reinstall but thats annoying in itself.

 

Same for me, I second the Faulty RC or maybe one of the connectors is not fully connected,

 

I have the same spec but in SL format, and I want to say that I also had a grievance with the seatbelt gismo thing being missing....however.... my sister just bought a CLE53 that has it, and I was even angrier because it looked so much cooler than in our cars, but actually looking at the thing operate, it pushes the seatbelt up almost exactly at the same position as where it is by default in my car. She still has to do the same body turn as me to reach it. I think it still would've cool, but I guess they considered it useless from a dimensions POV

 

Ah good to know. Yeah I thought there had to be some good reason for them to go backwards on that. It was super useful in my old c63s

 

I didn't notice this so I posted something similar. Did you ever get it working? I am waiting on gts5 #3 to be delivered in the hopes it will work

 

So I got my first warning light today - low engine oil, add one quart, recheck after next refueling. I guess I had it coming, I do drive aggressively lol. Now gotta find time to take it to the dealer to see if warranty will cover it

 

Anyone consider doing a secondary cat delete on their car? I had almost forgot I did this on my c63s and it was the final touch (in addition to new catback) that made the exhaust perfect. Seriously considering it on the GT if it won’t throw a CEL like with my c63!

 

I dont think the GT's have secondary cats- just primaries which will need a tune to code out the CEL.

And these cars dont have resonators either... just big *** rear cans which I pulled and added a valve controller.

 

Ah dang it, even with the muffler delete I want this thing a little louder lol

 

Did you figure the seat positioning out? When I was test driving, the seat would self adjust the seat back more upright than I had it set after adjusting seat rearward to a certain point. I did not have enough time to mess with it, but I was too upright when I had the seat positioned far enough back for my legs.

On another note, would someone measure the trunk height from the floor to the hatch level at the back and midway in? I am would like to know if a certain cooler would fit for road trips. I do not have mine yet.

hi I m’ve got the EVM and only noticed a slight difference. Can you please share a sound clip? I think I need a muffler delete. But I haven’t heard the difference. Also, not able to find a clip in YT.

 

Yeah I think you basically just have to drop the seat base down if you want to lean further back. The seat at its highest position doesnt have a lot of recline at baseline.

To be honest even with my muffler delete combined with the EVM I feel like the car should be louder so you're probably just expecting more. The EVM will just keep the valves open at lower RPM's than it would normally open. So as far as sound the EVM will make no real difference than what you're already hearing during spirited driving. I'll try to add a clip at some point but with the way you can't rev the car in park beyond 3-4k it's going to be hard to hear the difference.

I tried setting up myQ account and it worked, however when prompted it opens both garage doors. Does anyone have 2 grage doors with myQ and is able to close/open the doors independently by using voice through the voice command? Is there a way to reference one vs the other?

Yes, it is an app used to open some branded garage doors, I believe.
