PSE and Voice Recognition
I have the old 2001 Timeport. If I update to the V60 & V60 PSE, will the new PSE support my Voice Recognition system (the verbal control of radio, cd player and cell phone)????
I don't want to lose this feature. ARGOS says they will allow the continued use of VR system.
thanks

Upgrading your PSE will not disable the VR feature in your car. I upgraded my p old Timeport in my 02'E55 and everything works like before.

Anyone have a Treo 700p? Palm/Verizon released an update recently that had listed, among other things, improved support for bluetooth car kits/headsets. I'm wondering if as a result of that update it works better with the MB system.
I have the 700w, and am hoping that they will release a similar update for it.

Just Received My New AWS BT Puck
After some research before placing my order, I got what I expected...
My purpose is to find a way to download/upgrade/flash a BT phone & work with the puck & command system. It seems ANY BT phone will work as a $300 hands free device. Question is; how to get command to recognize & download contacts from phone.
If your phone is USB enabled, can sync w/ a pc, & accepts downloads - I'll bet you pink slips (my wife's car) there is a way to make it work.
The "approved" phones that aws list must have a common denomintor neccessary to work w/ the puck. Whether it's software, BT version, firmware or internal tweaking... There was a post that metioned "flashing" at howardforums - but couldn't find pertinent info...

I looked for compatibility info for a Balckberry 8700g (Cingular) elsewhere and could not find it. So, I took the plunge and decided to be guinea pig.
Good news! The 8700g works almost perfectly with the MHI Bluetooth Interface Module.
My car: 2007 E350/P2/333(Sports)
Phonebook downloads
DTMF tones work
Signal strength meter shows
No Call List Download
Not sure about 3 way
No SMS
Not sure about Speed Dial
My one complaint is that the phone book seems to fill up and throw an error code. I am not sure how much it can store but it is more than 100 numbers. It is probably a KB limit.
Anyways, I hope this helps someone.

Is the 8700g the same as 8700c? I have a Blackberry 8700c and am interested in the MBZ Bluetooth MHI and puck, any words would be helpful. I am having a Comand installed by Steve in my 99 E300 turbodiesel next month.

Blackberry's and all Bluetooth phones are compatible with Argos. Some carriers block certain OBEX and Phonebook Transfer functions (mostly Verizon and some Sprint) - Also some phones do not support phonebook transfer over the AUDIO bluetooth connection (has nothing to do with a BT data connection) for the simple reason the AUDIO connection only has an 8kbs overhead allowance for data transfer, and if you had a typical smartphone with hundreds of contacts in it, it would take forever to download the book to the car - PLUS Mercedes Benz cars have a 99 entry limit.
Just use Voice Recognition instead. It works better and it is safer.

I am with the other guy that doesn't want to pay the AWS price when all these other bluetooth phones are out there for free. I am going to start a new service and want a phone compatible with the v60 puck which I will buy. Does anyone know if the LG cu500 will work or the Nokia 6682? If not how do I make sure that a RAZR that I order has the right software for the MB?

I'm a little nervous signing up for a 2 year service and finding out the phone, whether it's a Nokia 6682 or the LG CU500 and finding out they are 1.2.3.4.5.6. I don't need all these phones. From what I read here the AWS folks aren't going to help out.

It it's a Timeport system, other parts will need to be upgraded too. Just stop by your local dealer, they should be able to tell you right away what you need.

Can you still buy V60's that work? My latest brain storm is (I have a 2001 with Timeport, command, voice recognition, built in antenna): First see if Cingular will turn back on the AMPS (analog Timeport phone) and add it to my family plan for 10 bucks, then forward my existing Razor to the Timeport when I'm in the car (free mobile to mobile I think), Anytime I'm in the car I can call out using the Timeport/built in antenna or get calls that have been forwarded (only works 'til AMPS discontinued in '08). If not, i need to decide if I went to get raked and upgrade PSE and cradle and phone to V60 and maybe even then add the puck- real waste of money but i do miss the convenience/safety of built-in phone. Or sell the car!

Just installed the new bluetooth RAZR cradle into my '07 CLK550 Cab with COMAND and NAV. I have a RAZR V3 with Cingular (Quad mode GSM) with S/W version R374_G_OE.41.C3R_B which is NOT on the "approved" list of software versions. Phonebook downloaded (of course with no symbols for work, home, mobile etc.), no call waiting, no conferencing, but phone works great both docked and undocked. Have not tried bluetooth functions with this cradle with any other phone at this time. It is interesting how few phones are on the approved list, yet how many seem to work. Hope this information helps.

Nokia E70 - works (minimally)
JUst reporting my experience. I have a UHI system installed, previously used a Sony-Ericsson T-637 cradle, but that phone quit.
I purchased a Nokia E70 (new smartphone), and decided to try the BT cradle.
It works, but just barely. I can dial (voice or keypad) and receive calls, but no contacts download, no call lists (not even redial), no signal strength, no named caller id (and, it appears it will not allow me to manually enter numbers into the COMAND phonebook - just the voice dialing).
Also some monior glitches - turning off and removing the key does not disconnect the BT pairing even if there is no active call. I didn't realise this, answered my phone inside the house, and no audio (it was being routed to the H-F). On a couple occassions, the audio connection seems to disappear, no sound either way on a call. Once at least the pairing has dropped for no reason I could tell.
Will try my girlfriend's S-E K790a next - it pairs very well with the Toyota BT system, including phonebook upload.

How do you check the software version for RAZR V3 and where is the list of approved software? Thanks.

Your owner's manual for the phone will tell you how to check your software version (probably somewhere under the "phone info" menu) - AWS can probably tell you whether your software is on their "approved" list for the RAZR.

Blue tooth updates
12/9/06. Anyone have any updates on phone compatibility with the bluetooth puck? I am looking at the LGVX8600 for Verizon. I saw on an earlier post that the LG's had a lot of 1.2.3.4's on them. Is that because it is CDMA as opposed to GSM on Cingular I wonder?

Motorola Z520a
Just tried the bluetooth MHI puck w/ the motorola Z520a and it works w/ incoming/outgoing calls and downloading recent calling list/caller-id. It will not download the address book or do any 3-way/conf calls.
