I'm not familiar with this particular model or any cobra models, but there's a discussion forum on radar detectors, and cobra is the least favorite brand of all because their detectors tend to leak out signals, which cause other higher level detectors to show false alarms.

As Alex Roy (The record holder for fastest cross country drive -NY to LA) said, anything less than a Valentine One is amatuer night. Its gonna cost you around 450, and even i dont have one yet, but i wouldnt put anything less in my E55

Hi again and thank you,
finally I get some answers about the cobra, when u say they leak you mean they make other detectors *** () and get of buzzing?they should'nt leak here in europe then cuz many people don't have these?

I live in Europe here they are all banned so there might be a few who uses those detectors in their cars. This means a cobra detector must work better here then in USA rite=? I've red that people complain about bad Ka-band that it is too short, what does this mean?
Thanks to ya all.

The range of cobra detectors are ok, it does save you from polices if you react immediately after alerts, however they do miss some radar guns, mostly in Ka bands.

LMAo... Drive with one! the *** things will pick up an automatic door 2 states away... How the hell are you going to drive with a unit that falses 99% of the time? I have to laugh at this every time I read it

Well if you want sensitivity and range.. you have to give up something (the crazy false alarms), because these automatic door openers share the same frequencies as our beloved radar guns

yeah-- cheap detectors are JUST that-- cheap!

driving down the local street here with a cheap detector you can literally guess when it's going to sound an alarm..
drive past a big elec. box, alarm goes off... pretty funny actually.

It makes having a detector worthless. Honestly, i drove to Pittsburg from Cleveland 2 years ago with a V1 that was in the guys vehicle. When i got to Pitt I wanted to get trashed and needed a valuim. Nothing like hauling ****, half *** asleep and all of sudden

BEEP!

WTF, if they market it as an anti-sleep product they would sell just as many. How do you V! guys drive with that crap? I only seen 1 damn cop the whole time and he was at the rest area.

I still twitch thinking about it

What do you suggest is better than a V1? Not attacking your point of view at all, just curious because Im in the market for one, and i always thought that V1s were the best out there.

Well having false alarms is always better than no alarm when you'r actually hit by a radar dont you think?

V1 is the leader of all the detectors in terms of distance and sensitivity, the only draw back is the false alarms rate, and i admit it its driving me crazy when im in urban area. However, i dont speed in urban area, so i just lower the volume when im there.
If you dont want the false alarms, Escort 9500i would probably be a better choice since its got the built in GPS that remembers all the false alarms area.
There are tests that show the range of Escort 9500i is shorter than the V1, but the distance is still more than enough for you to react when the alarm goes off.

just my 2 cents.

No false alarms suck, I was at CES this year and talked to the escort people, they could easily adjust their sensitivity to be the same as the V1 if not better, but they don't want a lot of false alarms. here is my new caparison of a V!. Imagine sleeping away and your smoke detector goes off every time you pass a little gas. you know how freaked out you'd be waking up to a smoke detector. now imagine it on a drive, at night , after working 20 hours of a mental stress job. Valium! just to relax!

And that V1 marketing crap about being the most sensitive, c'mon, adjust your filters and be like everyone else. V1 is all marketing. And if V1 is so great why aren't they having the speeding ticket guarantee like K-40? supposedly they are better than K-40

So should i go with the Escort 9500i? And have the sensitivity adjusted? How much do those normally run?

That's your call. I have my detector that works every time I drive, and I do drive ...aggressive... my solution is a lot more expensive then the 9500 so to be honest if price is an issue, I wouldn't worry what I think.

How much does it cost? Right now im looking at getting a V1, and with the setup i want itll run about 500. Price isnt too much of an issue, not when it comes to my car. Let me know what you use and ill look into it. Thanks
