anyone have any luck finding a TV tuner for the w211?

I too would be interested. Specificially, I'm wondering if the US spec COMAND DVD based systems in the W211 can be converted easily to either watch TV or DVD's through the COMAND interface.
I've still been waiting to get in to the COMAND diagnostic mode on 04 and above models that awiner had shown, but I have not been able to do it. I have a feeling that in the diag mode is a way to allow the DVD playing to work, possibly???
If you just want a regular type of setup, someone did it for pretty cheap in the W211 forum, and looked pretty good. I believe it was someone from Spain that did it. He did the install himself.

Steve of MBenzNL could do it I think. But you have to make arrangement with him to see when he would be in your area or at least somewhere close to you to get the installation or whatever you want him to do and he agrees to do.

Nice, but we all knew that the tv tuner is included in the Euro Command system. The only problem is the US version does not has it and need to modify so, need some work.

...........Could you kindly answer a few questions?
Firstly, does the in dash navigation slot play DVD's?
Secondly, are you able to get the Comand screen to show the movie while driving?
Thirdly if both of the above are true, where did you go to have it done........specific name and telephone number please.

..............My location is Atlanta, GA USA and I have a Euro Comand in my car. I know he has a Euro Comand. Euro or non Euro Comand is not really the problem. The problem is how to disengage the various safety features that MB installs.......thus allowing the video to show while driving. For instance in Holland, the CL500 even though it has the new DVD Comand..........you cannot play the a DVD and see the picture on the screen. Rather, you see a blank screen and can hear the the audio from the DVD from the car's stereo.
..............You can purchase a Euro Comand and put in your car easily. Many have done it. That does not solve the prooblem. Knowing who did his programming and what he/she did is what is important.

Then you need to contact Steve K. I think. Or any knowlegeable audio tech who specialize in excotic motors. The people at La Jolla Audio might be able to answer your question.

.............I am confused as to why you think it is not appropriate to ask the person who posted a picture of their W211 Comand with Video showing........why do you think it is wrong to ask them how it was done? W211 DVD comand is new Comand. To my knowledge steve is yet to do a W211 and neither have the folks at Lo jolla audio. And even if they have, hearing from someone who actually has it in their car seems to make sense to me. Disagree?

Oh nothing wrong with that. Just trying to save you a few bucks to call Norway. I doubt the poster did that himself. But if he did, why hasn't he answer you yet. Unless internet access is limited over there. Anyway, good luck getting it to work the way you want it to.

I can watch DVDs when the car is parked...same with the TV. s soon as you reach 12 km/h the screen blanks out, and informs you that due to safety while driving, it's not advised to view TV. Yes...the slot above the screen is for DVD's.
Does anybody know if the hardware can be modified so that one can view TV while driving?

Ahhh... forgot; My W211 was ordered with Comand including TV tuner. I'm going to see if I can add 2 screens for the headrests...so that my kids can watch DVD or TV while driving. Still haven't found a good solution to this. Does anybody out there have any pictures of that?

In the USA I did this to my CLK and will do this to my G55 next week. I have an E55 on order and I wanted to find out if the DVD navigation in the W211 is different and if anyone can reprogram it to show DVD or video while driving. I contacted the company in Netherlands, they can do it, but I have to ship my car to them. From USA to Holland is not practical. So I am interested in anyone that knows how to do this in W211. Thanks.

But there are so many unsubtantiated claims and counter claims about performance and audio/video that unless someone has done it and can actually do it, I tend to dismiss their cliamed expertise. As you know, dealerships in NA are generally not very helpful in these matters. So I will be willing to take my car to someone who can do the job except of course if it involves shipping the car to abroad.
