European Delivery (CA Resident)

Hello friends,

I had the privilege to test drive a 2012 C350 Coupe and really enjoyed the experience as a whole. I was stuck between the Audi A4 Quattro, BMW 335i Coupe, and the C350 Coupe. But after the test drive and just seeing how much you get standard with the c350, I am about to pull the trigger on the c350.

I am planning on going to Europe around June 2012 and am going to do European Delivery. I have some questions that I was hoping you could possibly answer...

1) Do any of you know of a certain salesperson or dealership anywhere in CA that specializes in EUROPEAN DELIVERY or is known for it? Any information would be great.

2) While the Dynamic Handling Package is a Special Order option, is it possible that a dealership in CA might have it available on any c350? I've heard the difference in drive is night and day, and I did find the c350's steering to be a bit on the light side.

3) If any of you have done Euro-Delivery with Mercedes-Benz, how was your overall experience? Any suggestions or advice? I am somewhat familiar with Euro-Delivery in general because my father did it through BMW last summer.

Thank you all again for any information you can give me. Hope all is well.

I did European Delivery for my 2012 C250 back in September and it was a great experience. I'd definitely do it again. The car just arrived in Long Beach last Thursday, so I don't have it yet.

Here's a link to my thread: https://mbworld.org/forums/c-class-c...-page-3-a.html

My salesman didn't specialize in Euro Delivery and I was ok.

Sep delivery c350

We also went to Europe in sep. The experience was unbelieveable. Everything went smoothly. Our car was waiting for us as promised. Our reservations made by mb were perfect.

https://mbworld.org/forums/c-class-w...-sept-5th.html

We saved at least 2k in car rental fees and got to stay at two five star hotels which both included breakfast, drinks, dinner, and/ or brunch. (They were running a two night hotel stay promotion...instead of only one night). The Interalpen hotel felt like a place royalty would stay. We were personally escorted to our room (rooms to be more accurate) and given a tour of the suite and all its amenities. The free meals were very gourmet.

In regards to the purchase process, we chose a specialist in European delivery. It made us feel at ease, because it is a little scary to sign for a 40k+ dollar car and leave the US dealership empty handed. Therefore, it gave us peace of mind to have someone with such experience. Since we ordered the 2012 car in april 2011, before it was being built, the options and pricing kept changing so our salesman had to do a lot of back and forth with MB to make sure we got the correct options. Two weeks before our trip, but before signing for the car we realized that they did leave off one option, (we eventully decided we didn't want it anyway)....but we used the mistake as leverage to negotiate away most of the deler prep fee which is almost a nonnegotiable fee in South Florida. (and of course we didn't pay for the option). Keep in mind these complications would not have been an issue if we were purchasing the already available 2011. We did benefit in the end because they mispriced one of the packages in our favor.

Also want to point out that we financed through our bank, not mb and got better rates.

I would do European delivery again in a heartbeat. Driving on the autobahn is an unforgettable experience! Everyone in the left lane just floors it and slower cars will move to the right so that you can pass them...works like clockwork. The roads are as smooth as glass. No danger is felt at top speeds. It is no problem and totally legal to drive your car as fast as it will go- 135 mph.

The car was noticeably faster than our 328i. We loved the multimedia...so easy to operate and functional. My husband (who is kindly letting me use his login) can give you a better description of the car's handling since he did most of the driving.

Good luck

We also took euro delivery of our E, fantastic experience... drove it to Zermatt for a ski weekend, then ended up in Nice where it was loaded up for the east coast. No mystery, and no surprises... went sweet and smooth.

Do EDP only if you want to go to Europe. Otherwise you can get about the same discount from a US dealer and get your car quicker. Regarding the package, your dealer can check the entire US inventory and all existing future orders and trade with others to get the car you need. Or you can order it or add the package to one of the orders your dealer already has and get it faster.

Well I plan to go to Europe because most of my family lives there, so getting the car, not worrying about rental prices, being able to see my family, and driving around Europe in the car will be an awesome experience.

I basically have the vehicle set up, but I am still trying to find a dealer with the dynamic handling package and see if it's worth it. From what I read on the forum, people have been saying that the difference is night and day. The dynamic handling package makes the steering tighter, the ride sportier, and overall feels fantastic. While I do believe that it makes a difference, I want to test drive a car with it first.

I agree...order here and demand a discount...it's easier to order out of state and even have it shipped for the savings...Altho, 2-4 weeks in Europe is pretty niiiccee...

To answer Q2. I don’t think you can find any C350/Dynamic Handling Pkg in stock unless someone ordered it and passed the deal. I ordered my car and the salesman told me that a lot of people wanted to test drive/get my car when mine arrived.
If you like the steering feel of 335i, you will need Dynamic Handling Pkg for sure. The steering feel tighter with Dynamic Handling Pkg but still light comparing to 335i or my 01’ 330i. GL

I live right next to the factory, I am US military stationed in the Booblingen area, wife is proper Swabian Frau. Ive been there a couple of times and Im taking delivery of my car in about two weeks from the factory. From what I have seen its pretty neat, but I wouldnt say its worth the money to fly to Europe to pick up the car.

Although I do not have any personal experience with European delivery, I saved this link just in case I go that route with my next MB.

John, this person has been banned from MBWorld for creating several usernames to pose as a satisfied customer of his.

For that reason, I am deleting the link to his info.

There are plenty of reputable ways to take a Euro delivery. Why does this one guy keep showing up?
