Grill and Front Fascia Painted

Well, plastidip actually. Decided to take the plunge today, came out ok. One garbled up spot on the lip, but barely noticable, and a few small parts around the star that didn't get any plastidip love, but I will go back and touch them up later. I did this without removing the grill, and a lot of tape!

Anyways, here ya go!

I really like the whole look of the grille with the chrome lines blacked out.

As do I. I think it makes the front look much more aggressive. The chrome takes away from that.

Very nice

That's what I intend doing to my coupe but lower lip only not the grill and in gloss black rather than matt black

I was thinking about the gloss, but I can't find the Glossifier for Plastidip locally, so I may order it, touch up everything and then do the gloss finish. I'm going to give it a few days to see what I think first.

Sounds good

Reason why I'm wanting to do it in gloss is because of the way the OEM looks on the C63's - perfect IMHO.

Let us know how you go with the glossifier, I'll do the same if it all works out, beauty of it all is you can always easily reverse the whole thing back to original OEM if you wanted to

Exactly! That's why I did it, and it's a lease too, so I don't want any hassle when I turn it in.

Very, very nice I'm a big fan of the black grill with the MB star left chrome.

Looks amazing! ive never plasti-dipped before. How many coats and did it only take 1 can. Any problems when it came time to remove the tape?

Thanks. There are probably about 5-6 coats on there. Makes it easier to peel off when the time comes.

As for tape, i had a bit of trouble around the star, just because it's so close. With the lower lip, it wasn't bad, but I removed the tape fairly quickly while it was still a bit wet. Unfortunately, you have to be very careful with this, as it can smudge/smear the edge. It's all a matter of finesse. If you mess up, the nice thing is it can be redone fairly easily. Here are a few videos from a guy that does a lot of plastidip. Just search his name on youtube, you'll find tons of how to's.

He's really good, and has a website that sells a lot of plastidip accessories as well.

To OP, have you taken any more pics of this? Any outdoors in the daylight? I want to get a good visual of wat the car looks like in natural light.

If you have some pics, please post.

how does plastidip hold up? I am going to do it on the bumper middle like this and some others have done... that area has to be prone to rocks kicking up... anyone else can chime in as well.

Thanks! It holds up great if you put enough layers on. I had my wheels done on my 540, went through part of a wisconsin winter, multiple car washes, all over about 6 months with no issues. The nice thing is, if you get a rock chip or hit a parking stop, it's easy to touch up and blends well.

Mine was actually painted gloss black - but I left the chrome lines as I think they really make the grill pop.

Looks awesome though!!
